  • He is My Exceeding Joy

    Giu 1 2013, 15:12

    “He is my exceeding joy”, no matter what the world may bring to pass;
    For in my Lord I find true healing for my mind and all I have to do is ask.

    He knows each burden of my heart, He knows when every teardrop starts;
    I go to Him in prayer and always find Him there for He is my exceeding joy.
    He'll be my exceeding joy ten thousand times ten thousands years from now;
    For when He saved my soul and made my spirit whole He saved me for eternity.
    He's building something just for me, He's promised in His Word I'll see;
    That dwelling in the sky where loved ones never die, He'll still be my exceeding joy.
    Jesus, my exceeding joy, no words I find to tell His worth to me;
    He brightens every day in countless happy ways, His tender love I ever see.
    He loves you more than you can know, He lived and died this love to show;
    Now trust His living Word, receive Him as your Lord and He'll be your exceeding joy.
    I count all things but loss, save Jesus and His cross for is my exceeding joy.

  • The spacious firmament on high

    Mag 3 2013, 0:40

    The spacious firmament on high,
    with all the blue ethereal sky,
    and spangled heavens, a shining frame,
    their great Original proclaim.
    The unwearied sun from day to day
    does his Creator's power display;
    and publishes to every land
    the work of an almighty hand.

    Soon as the evening shades prevail,
    the moon takes up the wondrous tale,
    and nightly to the listening earth
    repeats the story of her birth:
    whilst all the stars that round her burn,
    and all the planets in their turn,
    confirm the tidings, as they roll
    and spread the truth from pole to pole.

    What though in solemn silence all
    move round the dark terrestrial ball?
    What though no real voice nor sound
    amid their radiant orbs be found?
    In reason's ear they all rejoice,
    and utter forth a glorious voice;
    for ever singing as they shine,
    "The hand that made us is divine."

    The Spacious Firmament (Men's Chorus)
  • He Heals Every Heartache

    Apr 1 2013, 7:36

    There's Someone who helps me when friends pass by,
    And the sun has forgotten to shine;
    There's Someone whose strong arms are ever nigh,
    'Tis this wonderful Savior of mine!

    He heals ev'ry heartache, He hears ev'ry sigh,
    This wonderful Savior of mine!
    He helps me in trouble, He heeds when I cry,
    This wonderful Savior of mine!

    When darkness surrounds me and light is gone,
    And the world in it's beauty grows dim;
    When sadness has taken away my song,
    Then I carry my burdens to Him!

    He heals ev'ry heartache, He hears ev'ry sigh,
    This wonderful Savior of mine!
    He helps me in trouble, He heeds when I cry,
    This wonderful Savior of mine!

  • And Can It Be That I Should Gain?

    Mar 1 2013, 5:20

    And Can It Be

    1. And can it be that I should gain
    An interest in the Savior's blood?
    Died He for me who caused His pain!
    For me who Him to death pursued?
    Amazing love! How can it be That
    Thou, my God, should die for me?

    Chorus: Amazing love! How can it be
    That Thou, my God, should die for me!
    Amazing love! How can it be
    That Thou, my God, should die for me!

    2. ’Tis mystery all: th’Immortal dies:
    Who can explore His strange design?
    In vain the firstborn seraph tries
    To sound the depths of love divine.
    ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,
    Let angel minds inquire no more.
    ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
    Let angel minds inquire no more.

    3. He left His Father's throne above,
    So free, so infinite His grace!
    Emptied Himself of all but love,
    And bled for Adam's helpless race.
    'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
    For O my God, it found out me!

    4. Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
    Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
    Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
    I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
    My chains fell off, my heart was free,
    I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

    5. Still the small inward voice I hear,
    That whispers all my sins forgiven;
    Still the atoning blood is near,
    That quenched the wrath of hostile Heaven.
    I feel the life His wounds impart;
    I feel the Savior in my heart.
    I feel the life His wounds impart;
    I feel the Savior in my heart.

    6. No condemnation now I dread;
    Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
    Alive in Him, my living Head,
    And clothed in righteousness divine,
    Bold I approach the eternal throne,
    And claim the crown, through Christ my own

  • On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand

    Feb 4 2013, 22:14

    in Selection of Hymns, 1787.

    Music: Miss M. Durham, in The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, by (New York: Hastings House, 1835); arranged by , 1895.

    On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
    And cast a wishful eye
    To Canaan’s fair and happy land,
    Where my possessions lie.

    Refrain

    I am bound for the promised land,
    I am bound for the promised land;
    Oh who will come and go with me?
    I am bound for the promised land.

    O the transporting, rapturous scene,
    That rises to my sight!
    Sweet fields arrayed in living green,
    And rivers of delight!

    Refrain

    There generous fruits that never fail,
    On trees immortal grow;
    There rocks and hills, and brooks and vales,
    With milk and honey flow.

    Refrain

    O’er all those wide extended plains
    Shines one eternal day;
    There God the Son forever reigns,
    And scatters night away.

    Refrain

    No chilling winds or poisonous breath
    Can reach that healthful shore;
    Sickness and sorrow, pain and death,
    Are felt and feared no more.

    Refrain

    When I shall reach that happy place,
    I’ll be forever blest,
    For I shall see my Father’s face,
    And in His bosom rest.

    Refrain

    Filled with delight my raptured soul
    Would here no longer stay;
    Though Jordan’s waves around me roll,
    Fearless I’d launch away.

  • Near To The Heart of God

    Gen 2 2013, 7:12

    Words & Music: Cleland B. McAfee, 1903. He wrote these words after two of his nieces died from diphtheria. The Park College choir sang the new hymn outside the quarantined house.

    There is a place of quiet rest,
    Near to the heart of God.
    A place where sin cannot molest,
    Near to the heart of God.

    Refrain

    O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
    Sent from the heart of God,
    Hold us who wait before Thee
    Near to the heart of God.

    There is a place of comfort sweet,
    Near to the heart of God.
    A place where we our Savior meet,
    Near to the heart of God.

    Refrain

    There is a place of full release,
    Near to the heart of God.
    A place where all is joy and peace,
    Near to the heart of God.

  • O Holy Night

    Dic 1 2012, 20:58

    O Holy Night Lyrics

    The words and lyrics of the old carol 'O Holy Night' were written by Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Cappeau was a wine seller by trade but was asked by the parish priest to write a poem for Christmas. He obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. He then realized that it should have music to accompany the words and he approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856).

    He agreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by Adolphe Charles Adams. Adolphe had attended the Paris conservatoire and forged a brilliant career as a composer. It was translated into English by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893).

    O Holy Night Lyrics

    O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
    It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
    Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
    Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
    A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
    For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
    Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
    O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
    O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
    O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

    Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
    With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
    O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
    Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
    The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
    In all our trials born to be our friends.
    He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
    Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
    Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

    Truly He taught us to love one another,
    His law is love and His gospel is peace.
    Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
    And in his name all oppression shall cease.
    Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
    With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
    Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
    His power and glory ever more proclaim!
    His power and glory ever more proclaim!

  • Day by Day

    Nov 1 2012, 23:24

    Day by day, and with each passing moment

    1. Day by day, and with each passing moment,
    Strength I find to meet my trials here;
    Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
    I've no cause for worry or for fear.
    He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
    Gives unto each day what He deems best,
    Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
    Mingling toil with peace and rest.

    2. Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
    With a special mercy for each hour;
    All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
    He whose name is Counsellor and Pow'r.
    The protection of His child and treasure
    Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
    "As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
    This the pledge to me He made.

    3. Help me then, in every tribulation,
    So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
    That I lose not faith's sweet consolation,
    Offered me within Thy holy Word.
    Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
    E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
    One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
    Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

  • My Father Watches over Me

    Ott 2 2012, 17:55

    MY FATHER WATCHES OVER ME

    Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Matthew 6:26

    Words: William C. Martin , 1910. This song was a favorite of Homer Rodeheaver, who devoted an entire chapter to it in his book Song Stories of the Sawdust Trail.

    Music: Charles H. Gabriel

    I trust in God wherever I may be,
    Upon the land, or on the rolling sea,
    For come what may, from day to day,
    My heav’nly Father watches over me.

    Refrain

    I trust in God, I know He cares for me;
    On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
    Tho’ billows roll, He keeps my soul;
    My heav’nly Father watches over me.
    He makes the rose an object of His care,
    He guides the eagle thro’ the pathless air,
    And surely He remembers me;
    My heav’nly Father watches over me.

    Refrain

    I trust in God, for, in the lion’s den,
    On battlefield, or in the prison pen,
    Thro’ praise or blame, thro’ flood or flame,
    My heav’nly Father watches over me.

    Refrain

    The valley may be dark, the shadows deep,
    But O, the Shepherd guards His lonely sheep;
    And thro’ the gloom He’ll lead me home,
    My heav’nly Father watches over me.

    Refrain

  • Abide with Me

    Set 3 2012, 4:39

    Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
    The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
    When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
    Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

    Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
    Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
    Change and decay in all around I see;
    O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

    Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
    But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
    Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
    Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

    Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
    But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
    Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
    Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.

    Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
    And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
    Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
    On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

    I need Thy presence every passing hour.
    What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
    Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
    Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

    I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
    Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
    Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
    I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

    Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
    Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
    Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
    In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

    Abide with Me
