barryfromgnsd albums I have enjoyed this year have been All Hail Bright Futures by and So I Watch You From Afar Holy Fire by Foals the unreleased single by Dinosaurs Are Shit Dragons I liked the new David Bowie and Joy Formidable albums too, spent most of my time listening to olde stuff though really, you might like a bands called Baby Godzilla and Kraul if you like noisy stuff though

beanandgone Have you listened to the Orbweavers? I love their album called Loom.

beanandgone Listening to Widowspeak on Rdio now. You'd almost swear it was Hope Sandoval! I love it so thanks. Funny the 6 other bands lastfm say they sound like, I haven't heard of any of them before. Have you used Rdio? Its great. Rodriguez is very Dylan I guess. His songs are addictive and catchy but also quite varied in style.

irishtim Yeah, I've heard those 2 Intronaut songs, Milk Leg sounds massive. I can't remember anticipating an album as much their new one. Another one that should be great in 2013 is the project called Palms featuring Chino of Deftones and members of Isis. That one should be out late spring. Also, have you heard this unreleased Torche song? (https://soundcloud.com/230mp3/torche-harmonslaught) I don't know if they're recording another album or anything, but if so, I hope they write more tunes like this!
Marzo 2013 -
irishtim I heard that Old Man Gloom album from last year, but I reckon I must give a few more spins to really sink in. Hell yeah on getting Tool tickets. I wish they'd tour more. I saw them a few years back in Seattle. Fantastic show they put on, musically and visually as well. They really put on quite a live production. Have fun!

irishtim What's up buddy! Just wanted to give you a heads up about the new Baptists album called Bushcraft featuring Nick Yacyshyn (the drummer from A Textbook Tragedy). Crust influenced hardcore in the vein of Converge. The album was produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge. Super awesome heavy album. I can't stop listening to it. Let me know if you'd like a link.

wisposnipe heheh, thanks for accepting. I was meaning to send you a message, sorry. Not sure if you'd remember me but I was MotherBuzz. I changed accounts and we did have a much higher "compatibility" rating before... guess I haven't listened to enough yet

earthcrossing Definitely a win! yep, I am a frequent last.fm user - in fact I guess you could say I'm mildly obsessed with the site. ;) I like to contribute gig reviews, and I also run my own artist page here so have a lot to do with that.

earthcrossing Hey - thanks for the friending! looks like we have a fair bit musically in common and yet i see a lot in your charts I've never heard of! must do some investigating :)

irishtim Hey man, have you heard that "Pigs - You Ruin Everything" album yet? (http://solarflarerds.bandcamp.com/album/you-ruin-everything) Crazy, weird, cool, noisy, heavy, punk-ish, sludge-core, or some shit like that. Either way, I've been listening to it a lot lately and thought you might like it. It's all over the place on music blogs. Check it out.
Aprile 2012 -
irishtim I agree that the new Narrows is way too short. It's so awesome though. Final Mass sounds like a TAAS song with Botch vocals. I haven't heard the new Torche yet. I'm sure I'll love it. I love everything they've done so far. I wasn't aware of a new Intronaut album. That's fantastic news. The new Mars Volta is pretty good. Tuned down drum sound though. I wish the new drummer was a little more busy. They're music is made for intricate drumming. Good album nonetheless. 2012 is gonna be quite a year for sure.
Marzo 2012 -
irishtim New Narrows (featuring members of These Arms Are Snakes & Botch) leaked and it's awesome!

irishtim Yeah man, I ran across that Serious Beak album on some random music blog and they sounded interesting. I need to listen to it some more, but I do remember liking it. That's pretty cool that they're buddies of yours. Small world. Hope all is well with you. Cheers!

irishtim Hey man. It's been forever! This year's been really hit & miss with me so far. I'm really loving the new Manchester Orchestra album Simple Math. Probably my favorite so far. The new ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead is pretty good as well. You might like the MonstrO album featuring the guitarist from Torche. Very 80's hard rock/metal vibe to it. Other ones I like so far are albums from Vessels, Helms Alee, Light Bearer, Idol And The Whip, Jack And The Bearded Fisherman and Arsonists Get All The Girls. How 'bout you? Anything I need to know about?
Settembre 2011 -
irishtim Hey man. Have you heard Black Sleep of Kali yet? Their new album is probably my favorite metal album of 2010. Kinda like a heavier Baroness with an insane drummer. Our Slow Decay is a super good album.
Dicembre 2010 -
irishtim I really like the Bars Of Gold album too. It's gotten better with every listen. You're right, it's no BvS though.
Novembre 2010 -
haggard666 Some quality charts you've got there.
Novembre 2010 -
irishtim I know, I'm still upset about the TAAS break-up. Between them and the #12 looks like you splitting up, it's been a pretty sad year for music.
Ottobre 2010 -

beanandgone I don't have those albums yet but I might need to get them very soon. I downloaded the free JTE song off the bloodshot site. Not bad.
Settembre 2010 -

beanandgone Perhaps you should try the 'We Are Only Riders - The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project' There is a Sadies song on it. I'm listening to it now.
Agosto 2010 -

beanandgone I really love it, thanks so much. I can also tell its going to be one of those albums that sneaks up on you in other ways too.
Agosto 2010 -

beanandgone Haven't heard it. In fact I haven't heard much of them at all except one song off We Are Only Riders, the Jeffrey Lee Pierce project thing, which is great. I will track it down based on your recommendation though. Thanks!
Agosto 2010 -

beanandgone Other than having to go back to work tomorrow, I'm just fine. Just got back from a ski trip to Queenstown NZ which was so much fun.....still in one piece. Have you ever been there? Astonishing mountain ranges just to look at let alone ski on. Unbelievable really. The Queenstown to Glenorchy drive must be one of the prettiest on the planet!
Agosto 2010 -

beanandgone Saw Midlake last night. Great as expected. They did a nice version of your favourite Roscoe.
Agosto 2010 -
ironhide- Saw your charts when I was listening too some "Gift of Gab". If you're into mellow hiphop and jazzy stuff, check out some of my charts. You may find some things you like.

irishtim I've listened to the new Minus the Bear a ton of times hoping it'd grow on me but it just hasn't. I just can't get into it. To me it's boring & uninventive compared to their other albums. I can see how it's been getting popular & more attention from the mainstream though. I think that's what they were shooting for with this album.
Luglio 2010 -
irishtim Oh yeah, and the new Black Tusk is rad too!
Luglio 2010 -
irishtim The new Gifts From Enola is super good for a heavy instrumental record. But I've been super disappointed with 2010's releases so far as well. I've never heard of White Hills, I'll be sure to check it out. I've seen the the Loma Prieta & Kvelertak albums all over the place but have yet to check them out yet either. I still think the new Portugal the Man, Medications, and Murder by Death are my favorites so far.
Luglio 2010 -
irishtim Hey man, how are things down under? Have you heard Sleepy Sun yet? Their new album (Fever) is pretty cool. Gives me a Black Mountain kinda vibe. Worth checking out.
Luglio 2010 -
irishtim Yeah this year has been bland for sure. The new Rosetta should be good though. I think it's due out later this month. As far as the band, I think it's hopelessness and lack of motivation. He's actually a really good bassist and he's a very humble guy. Small town guy with small town dreams.

irishtim As for the promoting, it's been frustrating. I set them with a couple of shows at some really good clubs in Portland and got them and opening slot w/ a textbook tragedy last month. But since then they've been having problems commiting to any gigs. I work w/ a couple of promotional agents that keep throwing shows at me but I have to keep turning them down cause one member of the band keeps coming up some stupid reason why he can't play. With any band I've ever been in or involved with, it's always been one guy who can't keep his shit together.
Maggio 2010 -
irishtim I've been pretty disappointed w/2010 so far as well. Minus The Bear let me down w/Omni. I find it boring and uninventive. With the exception of a couple of songs, the new Deftones, and Dillinger albums drag too. I was expecting Khoma's new album to be awesome, but it wasn't. So was the new Red Sparrowes album. On the other hand though, the new Medications, Murder by Death and Portugal. The Man are great indie rock albums. Also good instrumental (post rock) albums by These Monsters, EF, and Afformance this year. My list of stinkers is way longer than my list of winners.

beanandgone We're Super again!
Aprile 2010 -

beanandgone Hi, I saw Crazy Heart last night and I thought it was great. Quite a simple story really but I loved the music of course, especially the one he played in the bar after he had sobered up, called Brand New Angel. I think that was my favourite.
Aprile 2010 -

beanandgone Hey thanks. It was great starting with Justin Townes Earle on my birthday eve and then a very nice dinner with my man at the Carlisle Wine Bar.
Aprile 2010 -

beanandgone Great, I'm glad you watched it. That's a good way to describe it too. I'm planning on watching Crazy Heart next weekend. I'll let you know what I think. Hope you're having a good weekend.
Aprile 2010 -

beanandgone I will watch them both soon and let you know what I think. Yes The Road.......fantastic movie but one of its 'happiest' moments would be considered sad in most other movies. Definitely watch it though ~ beautiful cinematography and of course the music by Nick and Warren...
Aprile 2010 -

beanandgone You're playing one of my faves! And no I haven't seen Crazy Heart yet...crazy. Two movies I have seen recently that I loved are The Road ~ hard going but worth it and A Single Man ~ just beautiful in every way. Have you seen either of those?
Aprile 2010 -
irishtim I booked that band I'm working with (The Human Order) for a opening slot w/a textbook tragedy. http://www.last.fm/event/1392844+a+textbook+tragedy+at+Riverdale+Grange+on+31+March+2010.
Marzo 2010 -
irishtim I actually decided not to join that band. They wanted me to play keyboards and share vocal duties but I'm more of a drummer not a keyboardist. They already have a badass drummer. But I became their manager/booking agent and have been getting them shows in Portland. I'm trying to get them an opening slot on a Textbook Tragedy show that's happening here next week. They're looking for a local opening act to play.
Marzo 2010 -
irishtim Very interesting charts you've got there for the last 7 days. Skid Row/Cinderella/White Lion, almost seems like you raided my cassette tape case from when I was in 6th grade. haha. How've you been? Is that a new tattoo?
