....heeheee! --> O.K.! If a song has a preview on it, it will usually give you a song button. (One's that don't will still give you a hyper-link to the song page). The code is bracketed. If I close the bracket you won't be able to see it, so... replace the arrow I will use with a bracket [ ...THEN you will see the song button. I went and tested one out for you. Give it a test after you give this code a look over. You'll see it's really easy. ---->track artist=Stevie Ray Vaughan]Texas Flood[/track] Just replace the arrow with the bracket. PLUS!...if you go into your settings, under the About Me box, you will see a tiny blue hyperlink "BBC Code". Click on that. You will see all kinds of fun things you can do in your About Me(including the song track code in case my example is kornfusin'). ;-D I hope that was the code you were asking me about? If you need any help with more, just come holler at me! :-D Have a nice evening Allain!!

Hi Allain! Thanks for the delightful visit & "fantabulous" well wishes! ;-D Very sorry for the slow response back. Has been a couple of hectic weeks here lately. :) So happy to have you join Group 66!! Feel free to shout, build or post in Discussion threads, build journals all you wish! Don't have to run it by me. It's "our" group, not "my" group & you are amongst some very lovely people there! Be sure to go visiting & introduce yourself. I've known several group members since shortly after joining and love them like extended family members. We have lots of fun! Hoping to get more new stuff into the shouts & threads over there soon, so pop by any chance you get & enjoy a look around. Hopefully some day soon you will find a chance to tell us about your "kicks on 66"! :-D Glad you liked that coffee too! LOL! I am a coffee addict, so I keep that cup full and toasty hot! heehee! About the song code...running outta that's coming up in the next shout! In 3...2..1...

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Texas Flood

On his musical forefathers:
"We're not taking credit for the music of Muddy and the cats who started it all. We're trying to give it back."

"Those guys are the ones who really ought to have the recognition. They're the pioneers and the innovators, and they deserve respect for that. All the great records by Albert King and Albert Collins, Otis Rush, B.B. King's Live At The Regal - there's millions we could talk about, and each one of them is unbelievable in its own right. They're like books, in a sense. You can re-read them and gain a new insight each time. They never sound the same - not to me anyway. There's always something new to learn in each one. So these great blues men, they've all been like my teachers."

On Jimi Hendrix:
"The first time I ever heard Jimi's name was when my brother brought home a record of his. I guess it was around '67, and Jimmy had found it in a trash bin. He recognized it because he'd seen a short paragraph about Jimi Hendrix in a magazine, and he knew he was supposed to be something really happening. He put it on the record player, and what could you do but say YEAH!"

On comparisons with Jimi Hendrix (Star Spangled Banner):
"I heard they even wrote about it in one of the music magazines. They tried to put the two versions side by side. I hate that stuff. His version was great."

Stevie on his playing style:
"Now, I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard, and floor it."
"But like my brother Jimmie says, I play like I'm breaking out of jail anyway."

During the recording of Texas Flood:
"In the middle of one of the tunes I broke a string and we had to stop. After I changed the string we picked up right where we left off and punched back in at the same time. I don't know if this has ever been done before. The engineer sort of looked at us weird, but we got it on the first take."

On how he first decided to play guitar:
"I wanted to play saxophone, but all I could get were a few squeaks. So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too."

On when he first saw "Number One", his main guitar:
"I walked into this guitar store carrying my '63 Strat and I saw this other Strat hanging in the window. I just had to have it - I hadn't even played it, but I knew by the way it looked it sounded great."

Playing on David Bowie's "Let's Dance" album:
"I don't know what kind of music you'd call it, but I tried to play like Albert King and it seemed to fit."

On his heavy guage strings:
"Most people can't bend my strings. The gauges I'm using now - .013, .016, .019, .028, .038, .O56 - are small for me, but if I use 'em any bigger, I tear my fingers off."

On becoming sober:
"There's just a lot more reason to live now. I can't blame the music for what I got into. I had just kind of misplaced what was really going on with my life. There were a lot of mistakes made and now I can try and learn from those. It took all the crap I went through to come out on this side, and now I can try to make amends wherever I can. I'm discovering that it's really a wonderful world out there; I just have to open my eyes to it."

"Some people can be examples about going ahead and growing. And some people, unfortunately, don't make it there, and end up being examples because they had to die. I hit rock bottom, but thank God my bottom wasn't death."

On his musical gift:
"I think I've got something special to say with my music. But I have to keep these things in perspective, because they're gifts. It's all a gift, and I have to keep giving it back or it goes away. If I start believing that it's all my doing, it's gonna be my undoing. And I'm committing myself to doing the most I can with the gifts I have, so that they do as many people as much good as possible."
