Lyrics Born is big on infusing his music with oldschool funk and R&B. Also for something more on the end of soul than hip hop, but still with hip hop beats, this release was highly underrated last year, imo. Far better than Justin Timerlake's bullshit, yet somehow he made everybody's list.

I know it seems weird like I should be upset about the chauvinist nature of some rap, but it doesn't bother me so much that I can't still enjoy the music. If I really stop and think about it, yes, it's a bad message for sheeple and kids out there, however I still see it as honest words. I don't know a lot on the background of Schoolboy Q but I have met and experienced plenty of inner-city and lower socio-economic communities where their ideas of social norms are simply just different. It isn't right, and it should stop, but let's not ignore that it's still happening. Prostitution is a real thing. What can ya do? *shrug* I'll just enjoy the phat beatz in the meantime. // Mitch Jenkins, yeah, I gave it a quick spin and it seemed decent. I tried the first 4 tracks of that 7 Days of Funk release and couldn't get into it :\\, and I really wanted to because funk-hip-hop I really enjoy.

Oh wow! Look! A mature person who understands the importance of constructive criticism! :D ;) I'm going to give it 1 very very last chance spin but honestly I'm very disappointed, along with a lot of old school acts I love that released this year that, to me, has lost the vigor and *the stuff* they once had. Not sure the right word, brilliance maybe? ONYX, CYNE, Del The Funkee Homosapien, CunninLynguists (although I've kind of always been a little luke-warm with them)… I'm forgetting some. I'd say the most worthy hip hop of this year, for my list, would be #1 Moodie Black, Flying Lotus, The Roots, Teebs (though he got a lot more ambient and a lot less hip-hop-beats driven on this one), BADBADNOTGOOD (although they're more than just touches of hip hop), and admittedly Schoolboy Q for the stupid, vulgar, non-serious but I'm still regardless enjoying to jump around to. Busdriver's newest is also very good, but I'm still weighing in on whether it will make my list or not.

Yup, I'm watching it too! Yeah, the characters are pretty stereotypical and generic, as well the story (I really expected more for the staff in the series) but it has some brilliant moments and passages. Also today I finished Sidonia no Kishi. It's an adaptation of a manga written by the same guy who made Blame! or Biomega, great cyberpunk mangas. It's pretty great too, despite the CGI (I don't really like that technique xD) What it's about Rick and Morty? I'm curious xD

Awesome, I'll czech it out. I've been picking black metal back up recently. I used to listen to a bunch of Monarque back in the day, still really good too after all these years.

Duuuuuude, finally I finished Kill la kill, and well I must admit that I enjoyed the show way much more than I expected despite the incredible amount of fanservice (in a deliberately way, yeah, but c'mon.... xD). And well....fuck, the last episodes were too epic!

I checked out Watain the other day. I see what you're saying! And that would be a really interesting read, especially because I only like the first album (But not in a pretentious way, haha.)

You'd think a black metal band would be comfortable sounding extreme, haha.

The first half of the album is definitely strong. Be My Blood, Self Inflicted, and We are Nothing impress me a lot in particular. Nice catchy hardcore moments, good black metal riffs. I'm gonna have to sit with it more though. I think it will grow on me too. Actually I haven't heard a lot of Watain, but I can see how they would sound like this!

Not finished yet (I'm on the episode 19) but well, I think it's better than Tengen Toppa, but still lacks something that could make me implode of the awesomeness. The animation is really top-notch, though. I guess isn't really my kind of anime, for example last tuesday started with Mushishi(I can only describe it as kinda the post-rock of the animu, lol) and I'm already on the second season. And what about ya'?

Dude the new YaitW is awesome. This is exactly what I wanted the album to sound like.

Hey man! I'm good, just a bit under the weather. I haven't gotten around to the new Young in the Way yet, but I'm guessing you like it. I'm excited, since I love the hardcore/black metal combo. When it works, it really works (Oathbreaker - Upheaval). I'll check it out! Oh man, I love Thundercat. My scrobbles for the new album don't go through but I fucking love the new album. I saw him live a couple months ago too. That shit was amazing. The sound is amazing and his drummer is crazy good. Drum solos for days.
