I made a survey and posted it in the UM shoutbox. I'll let you know the results in a couple of weeks. If you'd like some questions to be added, please tell me, that survewymonkey website is really flexible.

Skip him, I guess. I found this group, you could put it to connected groups in the description: http://www.last.fm/group/Extreme+Metal+New+Release+Chronicles

I think that 2weeks behind system isn't working out too well. All 'my' bands have been covered as well. So I think we should stick with the current/previous week? That's what all the NL writers have done so far anyway.

Hmm... your last newsletter covered the bands the previous writer already covered. We should generally avoid such things and take the previous weeks NL as the starting point.

Fruity Loops Eight and above have software called 'Edison' built in that can be used for sample editing, but other wise you will need an external client. I recommend down loading Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net). It's free and very easy to use. I use Edison and Audacity almost interchangeably.

Hm. Are you wanting to edit them in a specific way? Do you mean clipping them, like cutting them in to smaller pieces- or do you mean distorting their sound with FX or some thing?

Yeah. I was pretty happy when I found that group. Hey. Would you mind connected my [artist]Red Ankh[/artist] project to your Uknown Metal group? That would be sweet}=<))

Hey! I found a gabber metal group. It's been around since two thousand seven; I just couldn't find it before. You should join! URL is: http://www.last.fm/group/Metal+And+Core

Hey. My similar artists just did a big switch around. On my Shyft profile DJ Istapp is now super similar. Imagine that!

Haha. Oh. Yeah. I understand that};<)) If I remember right, you have no thing to worry about as long as you don't try to sell remixes/covers. There are tons of loop holes that people use to avoid having to pay the original copyright holders (most commonly remaining too underground to get noticed by them), but you shouldn't have to worry about it as long as you don't try to collect income from it. If you do want to, you have to make some sort of a contract with the copyright holders (often not the artists, themselves- or even the labels), and make sure to pay them a cut. It's complicated, and I can imagine small timers like our selves getting screwed by big daddy copyright holders. That's why I haven't made any plans to have my remixes/covers on my albums.

That's cool. Bits and pieces of copyright stuff have stuck in my memory. I'm not exactly an encyclopedia on the subject. Why do you ask?

I had never heard of Born of Osiris before, so I youtubed that track. Not really my thing, but your remix of it was pretty sweet. Thanks for telling me about it!

I'm not sure. I usually just tag them with 'gabber remix' and 'gabber metal'.

Hi. I think verenvuoto covered the previous week, not the week (s)he was supposed to. Could you message AGreenman the correct dates he is supposed to cover so it won't happen again?

And as far as inspiration, well, I know that I have to be in a good mood to make music- even if it's really angry or sad sounding stuff. So if life's getting you down, you might have to fix those problems first. It's a shame how day to day, boring, real life can have an effect on some thing so fantastic as the inspiration of music}=<(( Other wise, I get my inspiration from dreams, fantasy, and listening to music, I suppose. Some times all it takes for me is to listen to a good track, and I'm pumped up to produce some thing new. My music production slumps are usually either caused by stress from my life or from the feeling that any thing that I make will have already been done before. For the second one, I just have to wait until I think of a melody that really stands out and doesn't sound like any thing that I have heard before. Meh. I hope that helps. I'll get to the PM now.

You are welcome- and thank you. I'm still learning, my self, you should know. Mastering, like every other part of making music, is some thing that one just has to 'develop an ear for', as they say. At least for me, mastering tutorials didn't do any good until I learned to sort of 'feel' the frequencies... In any case, it might be tough to find a guide for mastering GABBER specifically. I will send you a detailed base of guide lines in the form of a personal message, though, that should be applicable to most gabber tracks.

I agree. I prefer a software environment, my myself. It's cheaper and takes up less physical space};<)) Any way, I've been listening to the album 'Grim Revelations of Frostbitten Hardcore'. It's quite refreshing to hear hardcore that doesn't sound like it's trying to sound like some thing we have already heard before.

Well, I said, 'hardware elitists,' people who frown upon using computers and software for music. I navigated to your project here on last.fm from your user page, and I came to your user page while I was interested in seeing what the charts of the group leaders of Unknown Metal looked like. I recently joined that group and added my metal project to the discussion listing that you have.

Just curious. It would be silly of me to recommend you VSTs if you were one of those hardware elitists. I use FL Studio, too! I do most of my synthesis within it. Since you use FL Studio, I recommend that you start off playing with Sytrus (it's built in, if you didn't know about it). I've been using that for most of my leads and bass kicks lately. I recommend looking up some tutorials for it. All of the other generators in FL are crap.

Hehe. I'm glad you liked the track. I only use samples some times for small percussion such as snares, claps, hats, crashes). Every thing else I synthesize. If you really want to make a name for your self, you have got to program your own leads, effects, and bass drums. Get some VSTs or hard ware synths and turn some knobs!

Yes. I agree. Usually when I try to explain gabber to people who don't know much about electronic music I compare it to metal. I figured you liked VGM/chip also, with a Sonic remix and a track title 'The Final Battle'. Reign Supreme is pretty neat; am listening to it as I type. Speaking of 8bit hardcore, I recently up loaded a track like that: [track artist=Shyft]End It[/track]. See if you like!
