I've listened to it a lot and I've always left feeling a little underwhelmed. Probably due to listening to too much music which later emulated Animals's sound. Also more of a fan of Piper/Saucer tbh.

It's pretty good. It's got some catchy melodies. Pretty similar to Dark World, maybe a little slower.

I would say not to worry about that. The reason he doesn't have any more specific tags is because there is nothing else that sounds like him to compare him to. Give him a listen.

In which case, I'll start using that once my computer's power supply gets replaced and I can actually use the damn MP3 cable. :I It's been dead for a while now, that's why I only post on 4chan during the weekends. Anyway, thanks for pointing out the obvious to me and not being nearly as much of a dick as I imagined /mu/ regulars were.

I am not a very big fan of most of Swan´s work but I really like Soundtracks for the Blind and their dronier works . I love that particular spoken part in I Was A Prisoner in Your Skull . I've not been listening to them much after I made a last account and started scrobbling more frequently though.

Meh, to be perfectly fair there is a bit on here I don't yet own, and it's not as if I even knew what that was prior to actually posting on /mu/.

they don't like his lyrical content, I think. Not sure because all I see is 'boring' or '>5.8'

It's good, yeah. A lot more twee/dream pop than loveless or even IA though. But it's a good listen and it's cool to kind of watch their style evolve.

I'm sure that there's lots of people more interesting then me though. Pretty sure that those people aren't into posting in last.fm threads all the time though.

I really like it. it surprised the hell out of me, it's way better than Blueprint 3. /mu/ didn't like it, pitchfork didn't like it, pretty much nobody but me liked it. idk but I think it's a good album

Gastr Del Sol is weird man... Super intriguing but hard to follow. Favorite album was The Serpentine Similar. If you're getting back into post-rock I wouldnt recommend going straight to GDS. They are in a whole other realm when compared to most other post-rock groups. It's no wonder Jim O'Rourke is involved with so many highly experimental collaborations and projects these days

They're decent, I like their later output more than their early stuff, but it's all notable.

If you're interested in his post-80's work, Outside is pretty great and Earthling, Heathen and Reality are pretty decent records.

Well I always suggest Low to every newcomer to his discography, but his work is so varied it's hard to say. If you're looking for Glam, start with Ziggy. If you want something more experimental go for Heroes. He's covered a bunch of genres so if you're interested in Soul, listen to Young Americans. For more straight forward "hard-rock" (not too good with genres) give The Man Who Sold The World a listen. All are fantastic records imo (maybe not Young Americans, but that's because i'm not big on soul. Young Americans (the track) is, however, one of his best songs) His entire 70's discography is worth checking out, though, From Space Oddity to Scary Monsters, the only "bad" album in there is Pin Ups, but that's an album composed of covers, so i don't really count it.

I was extremely surprised at how good it really was. Of couse, it's not even close to the quality of his 70's output, but it's probably his best album since Scary Monsters. It would be so much better if it didn't have Dancing Out In Space, though. That track is kinda shit.

My good buddy Sam has much more obscure taste in new waves. I don't think mines all THAT obscure really. I wasn't crazy about the Takashi Hirayasu & Bob Brozman record, but it was definitely interesting and worth a listen.
