Was meinst du?

In fact I really prefer jazz in general (also other kinds of music). My library was reset a month ago, so you can see what I've been listening to since that moment. But yeah, i love jazz from fifties and sixties a lot. It was a great period for jazz. But also I like sometimes to hear some early Duke Ellington or Count Basie stuff. "Swing" period was so joyful and colourful. Or old blues..and the latest stuff is good as well! I think it's important to have ears open all the time, for all kinds of musical expression, wheter it's jazz, classical, folk, Indian classical and so on. Music from other cultures, that's the thing too! Like Ellington said: "there are only two kinds of music: the good music and the bad music". Ps. Lucky Thompson played tenor and soprano ( before Coltrane has popularized this instrument) not alto ( in previous post I wrote alto, it was a mistake from me). Tricotism and Lucky Strikes are great albums. He also played on several Milt Jackson albums.

Thanks! Obviously it's not complete because of the reset, which I did some time ago. Also I'm not so much in the free jazz as you are. I like some Andrew Hill albums, a little of Ornette Coleman stuff... but (must admit) I love Dolphy... on flute, on alto, bass clarinet... whatever. On every solo he just shines! Lately I'm discovering the great tenor and alto saxophonist, Lucky Thompson. His tone, his phrasing, his musicanship. Beautiful musician. In my opinion, he is really uderrated.
