I’ve always been one of these gullible people who did believe that Michael Jackson slept in an oxygen chamber and spent most of his time in hospital to recover from plastic surgery. When someone said his name, I thought of this ‘weirdo’, someone who liked young boys a little too much, in short; a total nut.
I have to admit he looked a little strange in the end. You can’t deny the fact that he has his nose (and other facial parts?) done several times and it’s clear that he did have a lot of money, so why would he not do the things that were written about him?
I realized that we, the audience, read something, don’t think twice, and hardly ever think; ‘why should he want to buy the elephant man bones?'. Or ‘there might be personal reasons to change his appearance’. It’s so easy to suppose everything that’s said, that you let the media have the whole control on your thoughts about specific things.
What we forget, is that there’s someone human behind these rumors, someone who does feel it when you talk bad about him, someone who’s hurt by the lies and mean jokes we made. It’s pretty harsh that this man, who was more of a genius than a nut in fact, had to die before he got the respect he really earned.
One of the most discussed things about Michael, is the color of his skin. Why would I ever doubt about the fact that he wanted to be a white man? It’s nothing illogical, not for a star who has all the money in the world, and who has to deal with the way he looks every day, more than any other person. Of course I have heard him say he had this skin-disorder, but for some reason that sounded more like lies to me than the things that were written about him. It was clear that he has had several nose jobs before, so why wouldn’t he go further?
When you call a little attention to the story, you come to realize that there’s (as far as I know) no such thing as (complete) skin bleaching, and when you look up some pictures of Michael in the 80’s, you can clearly see the white spots in his face. This disorder, called Vitiligo, which destroys the pigment in your skin, affects about 1% (!) of the world population. It’s said that Michael’s make up-artist had to cover up the white spots with full body make up at first, but when it all got worse, it was more obvious to lighten up the darker places of his skin than otherwise. Another issue that refers to the truth of this story, is that people who suffer from Vitiligo have a notable bigger change of getting skin cancer, which Michael was diagnosed with last year.
It’s so easy to believe things about someone you don’t know a thing about. When you go into Michael’s life just a little, you’ll find out that right he is a very vulnerable person, dealing with a lot of insecurity. A man who’s easily ashamed, and never had the chance to be a kid. Someone who’s forced to sell his childhood for fame. And above all, a man who loved children, loved them in a way every parent should love their own kids. You have to see him playing games with all these disabled children only once, to find out he’s always been trying to be the kid he never got to be.
If there was one thing in the world you could destroy this man with, it was with a charge of child abuse. I don’t feel like writing a long elucidation about my belief in his innocence, but I am 100% sure that Michael Jackson was simply not even ABLE to hurt a child, it was not in him, the last thing he would EVER do in his life. The one who came up with this story is so incredibly evil, so keen on breaking this man, that it could encourage real feelings of hate for me.
This charge has tainted his name so badly that, even after he was found innocent, Michael had become a joke, an idiot, a pedophile in the eyes of the world. And I can’t say this with certainty, but I do truly believe that this whole happening has made him grab at several very dangerous drugs which have finally caused the death of this icon. Because that’s how he should, and hopefully will, be remembered. Michael Jackson has been one of the most amazing singers, entertainers and dancers of all time, so it’s not overdone to say he was a genius. That’s something I want the world to know and to see, to clear up the things that were said about him, and to let him rest in peace. The peace he wasn’t able to find in his troubled and unfair life.
"Yeah, Wacko Jacko, where did that come from? Some English tabloid. I have a heart and I have feelings. I feel that when you do that to me. It's not nice." - Michael Jackson
