Well BSS only have a couple of albums, You Forgot It In People and a self titled. I would say just give YFIP a few listens, there's loads of different styles there, straight indie pop through to ambient. There was also an album before those two called Feel Good Lost which is some very nice ambient, but nothing at all like their newest couple. Can you rec me a decemberists album to start with perchance?

mhm sounds about right , some excellent name dropping in that sentence as well :P They manage to cram about 6 different songs into 2:30. And yeah, the song writing is very similar to malkmus, the words themselves mean fuck all but they just sound so damn good.

I really can't decide, the first 4 tracks are really fantastic, but I can't seem to get in to the rest of the album. Listen to "Some Trees" and "Indiana", I can't get enough of them.

Boards of Canada love the ISB of course ("they appeal to our rural sensibilities, we have all their albums") and I think they've met Mike at his home in Glen Row.

Oh yes they all are. Everything except No Ruinous Feud. But listen to every one in the temple of your choice, don't try to engulf them all at once or you'll never get to terms with them. U in particular has some of their finest songs buried amongst filler - a financially disastrous mixed-media performance which ran out of money before the tour reached America - the whole double album was recorded in 48 hours with Robin and Mike doing shifts. The 'surreal parable in dance and song' makes absolutely no sense on the album, and very few people who saw the performances can actually remember the story. This said, there are some amazing standout songs, I'll tell you all about it on MSN if I'm ever online. I didn't understand it really until one day there was a powercut in awful weather, and I sat and listened to the whole thing. It was an emotional epiphany! I began to levitate and couldn't get back down.

Hail and well met! I bet there are loads of secret underground hippies in Singapore. Well maybe. Perhaps. First of all if you haven't already get 5000 Spirits and their eponymous debut. As for the rest, well yes by all means, but I'm not sure how to go about it, it might be worth getting Liquid Acrobat (1971) next and then getting the others as I did, or I don't know. Eventually you'd have them all of course! I can probably spend greater time on this, or I could take it to msn if you want.

ooh do you have the CD's? Or to you burn them to disk? I need to get a nice big stereo system for my music that can work from iTunes, that would be awesome. Or start a vinyl collection mmm vinyyyllll

Yeah definitely go buy one on the cheap and just play it every day, you'll get good pretty quickly. And I don't believe you predicted that for one second haha.

It takes dedication, It takes dedication, it takes a death, and only god can allow it... haha in all seriousness though, replaying tracks while learning them on guitar gets playcounts up :P

Also it has an absolutely brilliant section towards the end, "I saw drones" through to "Driving Station" is probably the best part of any BOC album

Probably because it's better than MHTRTC, mainly because it has lots of 1-2 minute vignettes which I always think are their best tracks, the 5 mins of "telephasic workshop" and tracks like it always puts me off. Also It's full of satanic references.
