    Funny that you'd mention it! A fellow on the forums just recommended them, else I'd only know them from rock band/guitar hero (whichever one they were on).. This album is very good, though. Is there any bands you might throw at me? Should I just give Opeth a listen, maybe? I've heard people talk about 'em enough.

    Dear Paddy, thank you for the Irish trad music. Sorry for taking so long to reply; I can reply to a few messages now that I've completely finished my university degree; writing overdue psychology reports is an arduous process. That video drove me on towards listening to more of the Makem family, Enya, Altan, The Dubliners and music by the Ó Maonaighs (who are probably distant relatives). I grew up around the sound of Irish folk music but it is only now that I'm beginning to appreciate it. It sounds like you have a wonderful partner. I'm glad we have that in common! Has she ever performed in concert?

    Sorry for the long message; I can to waffle tirelessly when I want to. It's a shame I'm comparatively useless with verbal communciation. I noticed that you enjoy Lully. I was introduced to his music by my music teacher, who is an advocate of everything Baroque (except for the paintings). There's a certain 'zealous density' - for lack of a better phrase - to his music that always drives me on. I suspect the zeal in his music is there because he wants to constantly remind us, through the power of harmony, of the Sun King's greatness. I thoroughly enjoyed Phaeton when I listened to it the other day.

    Yes, I am currently learning Latin and thoroughly enjoying myself. I particularly enjoy seeing how the vocabulary connects with French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian and English words. It's good to see that you're have the ambition to learn Gaelic. I'm sure you have the aptitude for it too, and it would warm my heart to see more Irish people taking the language up - although I can understand their reticence given the reasons you've touched upon. As far as I know, none of my family - including my cousins who dwell in Ireland - speak Gaelic, so my personal knowledge of it is only what I've gathered from summaries on the internet and genealogical texts. Do you have any connections to Scotland, since Dobbin is a name commonly found there? Oh, and I'm something of a Tolkien fan too, although I am no expert. I've adored his books since I was six, but I haven't read all of them. He is certainly a fascinating man, deserving of more literary praise than he currently receives.

    Greetings from a fellow blue-eyed, long-haired, bespectacled 5 ft. 9 in. Irishman. I wouldn't call myself much of an Irish Republican though, since my family and I have lived in England for a long time (in my case, all of my life), although my sympathies are certainly in tune with yours. Do you speak Gaelic at all? I'm certainly fascinated by it, given its alleged linguistic kinship with Latin and Sanskirt, and also because its the language of many of my paternal forefathers. By partner, who is a Latin teacher, found that Gaelic was intelligible to her despite the fact that she had only encountered it once.

    Well I guess The Covenant, The Sword, and the Arm of the Lord is a considerably more pop-like album but I love every track on it - Mallinder's vocals on Sensoria just bother me. As a DJ of course there would be a lot of pressure, but I'd never DJ for clubs like...I don't know...Excalibur here in chicago where everybody wants to hear "dubstep" or hip-hop. Those places are sickening.
