Modest Mouse 11/14/06 Webster Hall

Nov 15 2006, 20:55

Just another example of why Modest Mouse are my favorite band of all time. Even with the addition of Johnny Marr they couldn't be tighter. They didn't play the songs I really wanted to hear, but I'm going to take what I can get. The new material (they played roughly 6 new songs from "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank"). New York crowds defintely aren't fun as Philly crowds, no crowdsurfing or moshing? That's whats supposed to happen at a MM concert. The openers Marcellus Hall and Love As Laughter were pretty good openers, I wouldn't pick them to open for them though. But anything is better than fucking Camper Van Beethoven who were the worst opener i've ever seen. They played Breakthrough, which was one of the highlights of the night. Also the 15 minute rendition of Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes was fucking incredible.

These were some of the songs they played (definetly Not in the right order, PLEASE COMMENT TO CORRECT MY MEMORY):

Ocean Breathes Salty
Black Cadillacs
Paper Thin Walls
Float On
Fire It Up
We've Got Everything
People We Know
The View
Tiny Cities
Doin' The Cockroach
The World At Large

Invisible In Your Car
Bury Me With It

I didn't even realize Modest Mouse was touring. Man. Nice set, too. They're usually pretty good at throwing in some of the back cataloge -- we got to hear Custom Concern and Broke last time they toured, which was great. I'm going to have to check into whether or not they're coming within driving distance of me, I guess. to dontquoteme: Doin' the Cockroach is from LCW.
