September 19, 2001. My very first show--Blink at the Long Beach Arena. Only eight days after 9/11. For a lot of people in attendance, their first big public gathering since. There was still a lot of weird tension lingering. Sadness, fear, etc. This was evident right away and continued through New Found Glory's opening set. Then, after another period of strange tension, the lights went down and Blink opened with this song. The Rock Show. In an instant, all that weirdness evaporated and everyone had the time of their fucking lives. A type of mass enthusiasm I'd never seen before swept over and a huge singalong ensued. That energy didn't let up until the end of the final song, Dammit. This song brings back a shitload of memories from different years but that's the one that sticks out the most. The opening number of an incredible show in the wake of one of the most infamous tragedies in history. How appropriate the line "I'll never forget tonight" turned out to be. I'll always love this.
