Orlando, Stati Uniti (2000 – presente)

I Trivium sono un gruppo musicale originario di Orlando, Florida, che esordì nel 2000 con sonorità Metalcore per poi diventare, intorno al 2006, una delle più promettenti band Thrash Metal della scena musicale, favoriti anche dalla giovane età dei componenti (Matt Heafy, il più giovane, è nato nel 1986).

Il nome del gruppo deriva dall’omonimo termine latino Trivium che indicava l’incrocio tra le tre principali scuole di insegnamento: grammatica, retorica e dialettica.

Il loro penultimo album, The Crusade, si è piazzato alla posizione #25 nella classifica Billboard 200 ed è entrato nella top 10 nelle classifiche Inglesi.

Esordi (1999-2003)
I Trivium furono fondati nel 2000 a Orlando dal giovane batterista Travis Smith. I componenti originali della band scelsero di chiamare in questo modo la band perché il termine latino Trivium era il migliore per indicare lo scopo e lo stile che essi si erano prefissati per il loro ideale musicale. Riguardo l’origine del moniker, Travis Smith rilasciò un’intervista dicendo:

« Scegliemmo questo nome poiché ci piaceva il modo in cui questo portava a un’apertura mentale a differenti stili, e riassumeva la nostra estetica musicale… »

La prima formazione della band a esibirsi in un concerto a Orlando, Florida, verso la fine del 1999 presentò Brad Lewter come cantante, Brent Young e Matt Schuler come chitarristi, Jarred Bonaparte come bassista e Travis Smith alla batteria. I Trivium si caratterizzarono subito per una line-up giovanissima, dall’età media che si aggirava intorno ai vent’anni

    The problem with The Crusade is that it was hella rushed due to Roadrunner wanting to capitalize on the success of Ascendancy. Matt wanted to try a different vocal approach and obv didn't have time to refine it. Half of the record is insane and the other half is mediocre. An ep of Ignition, Detonation, Entrance of the Conflagration, Anthem, Becoming The Dragon, Vengeance and The Crusade would have been stellar and more than a worthy bridge between Ascendancy and Shogun (best record hands down). The rest of the tracks aren't bad but just have an unfinished and cut and paste feel with atrocious lyrics, not that triv's lyrics are every brilliant, stuff of Ember is sometimes interesting tho.

    So many people said The Crusade was a big failed. But in my opinion that album is a masterpiece. It's like Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. There is spirits within for every each song but in different type. Trivium take a fire theme and Maiden choose witch thing. Blue is the core of the artwork. Paul Romano and Derek Riggs is my fav artists. So for you elitist, please listen again what is called a concept album. Sorry if there some hurting or wrong words. Thanks for read.

    Well Ember To Inferno is decent, gotta remember Heafy was ridiculously young writing music like that, Ascendancy is great stuff, yeah a little repetitive and angsty but look at the breakdown woe is me craze right now, anyone bashes trivium take a look at that crap. The Crusade should have been cut to 7 or 8 tracks, Roadrunner pushed them off the success of Ascendancy to release another. Shogun is amazing, mature and densely layered. Didn't go over too well with some. In Waves is good but not great imo, a few great tracks and the rest are listenable but nothing too special.
