• New Battle Of The Albums Coming...

    Dic 26 2008, 12:16 di Hausemer

    Hi all,
this will be my third Battle Of The Albums. As it worked well in 2007 i'll stay with the rules from last year. But at first I need you. I'd like to have 256 participating albums, and for that I need your advice. Choose your albums that aren't yet in the list. The records may come from every genre you like, only the release date must be in 2008. If you find some errors in the list, then please give a hint. :)
    I appreciate your help.

The Battle Of The Albums 2008 will probably start in the first week of 2009. If you want to see the results of older Battle, just go back in my blog history...

    here is my list:

    31 Knots - Worried Well
    A.Armada - Anam Cara
    Able Baker Fox - Voices
    AC/DC - Black Ice

So as if last year wasnt already weak compared to the stupidly large lists i did prior, this year is even less, i dont listen to as much new music anymore, i dont know man, lay off ok.

    check em out:

    LPs

    1.Transistor TransistorRuined Lives
Ever since thier early splits, I've really enjoyed trantan, and i was expecting some of the same material from them on this new album, but jesus exploding anal fissures christ did this album blow me away, it is just beyond brutal in all ways and alot more than just a dancy fun screamo album like most of thier material. amazing effort from these guys, good to see they arent fading away like the rest of the modern screamo scene.

    2.Titus AndronicusThe Airing of Grievances
The Happiest fucking lo-fi songs about death, destruction, and hopelessness ever. GET FUCKIN INTO IT

    3.GhostlimbBearing And Distance
HARDCORE ABOUT QUESTING AND CARTOGRAPHY AND EXPLORATION. MEMBERS OF GRAF ORLOCK. CAPITAL FUCKING LETTERS. MAGELLAN AND COLUMBUS AND SHIT. oh also the music is really good.

This year was pretty fucking great for music. In what isn't quite a "top 10", here's a quick list of my favourites - but don't read too much into the ordering.

    1. Transistor Transistor - Ruined Lives. Everything these guys have ever put out is stellar. They're one of the few hardcore bands that I can take seriously - their sound is sincere, they can hold a melody, and they're nothing short of bad-ass live. The closing track on this album is killer and up there with the likes of Malady. I can't say enough good things about these guys so I'll stop here.

    2. Git Some - Cosmic Rock. I found out about this over at C-zine where they described it as being “…like a really drunken, fat fucking Drive Like Jehu is staggering around, bumping into things and knocking shit over”. Not far from the truth, although it reminds me an awful lot of Karp at times as well. So yeah, I just mentioned two of my favourite bands in the same paragraph, not hard to see why I like this band so much.
