North Korea declared war today on South Korea. I am sure it is South Korea's fault. There must be some moral abiguity in there. Wait, let's blame America.

Don't support Israel? Well, you support Muslim terrorists, then. Yes, the moral choise is that simple, so you just can't be "neutral", you only can be a coward or a collaborationist. And if you're nevertheless trying to be "neutral", you shouldn't "criticize both sides" as you have absolutely no moral rights to do that.

And this became poignant once again... Anyway, I agree with Toshlines that it sounds like a Springsteen parody, but to me it also harkens back to sixties folk music social criticism. It sounds like a poor version of "Who killed Davey Moore?" by Dylan (a song constructed from newspaper articles).

It seems that what's upsetting you is that he doesn't take the particular stand you believe in, which seems to be the "godless muslims vs. innocent israelis" variety that's common in the US.

Yeah, that is funny. Hopefully he will next write a catchy tune about how the Nazi's were misunderstood. Maybe call it The Road to Peace- The Prequel. He can point point out clever things like their children were killed , too. Yes, "even handed" perspectives are very important.

I think it's funny how it's only the Zionists who get mad at him for adopting a very deliberately evenhanded perspective and criticizing both sides. Maybe balance is offensive if you've gotten used to wall-to-wall cheerleading from Americans.

also literal massive lols if you frame the situation as one of "rational" vs. "superstitious"

i'm with toshlines on this one. it's cool that he's prepared to engage with the topic but the lyrics are sixth-form-worthy clangers.

That's the problem - neutrality - have some balls. It's easy to paint a picture of some "complicated mess". But, to look at both sides (a rational society) versus the other ( a superstitious, backwards one), and come up with Tom being neutral and moral is ridiculous. Look at the facts and decide. Don't claim brilliance and objectivity because someone merely refuses to take a stand.

Israel has the biggest inferiority complex on Earth. They interpret everything anyone says all the time to be anti-Semetic. Its annoying and trite. An Israeli sees "The fundamentalist killing on both sides" and hears "OMG YOU HATE ISRAEL OMG ANTI-SEMITE OMG OMG HITLER LOVER"

Uh, joabn, if you paid attention, he doesn't call both sides "fundamentalist killers". He *says* "The fundamentalist killing on both sides is standing in the path of peace", which sounds pretty neutral to me - what with not singling out anybody. I'm not going to go into the whole Israel-Palestine thing because I already had a lecture on that earlier, but can we agree the whole thing is just a huge, complicated clusterfuck?
