I looked up the story behind this song, and it's horribly sad. In the 1972 Munich Olympics, eleven members of the Israeli Olimpic Team were taken hostage by a Palestinian terrorist group (helped by neo-nazis) and eventually murdered. The song was written by William Laskin, and is from the point of view of the father of one of the murdered athletes. :( Though it works as a war song, too.

Gripping lyrics. "My nation and my son. One found its birth, one found his death. At the end of a pointed gun"
