Story of the year è un gruppo Punk rock formata originariamente a St. Louis nel 1996. All’inizio la band si chiamava Big Blue Monkey,ma dato che c’era una band Blues che si chiamava Blue Monkey decisero di cambiare il loro nome in Story Of The Year.
La band ha registrato qualche demo dopo la propria formazione e dovrebbe aver registrato anche qualche EP. Comunque non hanno pubblicato il loro primo album, Page Avenue, fino a settembre 2003. Page Avenue ha ad oggi venduto più di 500,000 copie in tutto il mondo e la canzone “And The Hero Will Drown” è stata scelta per andare a formare la colonna sonora di Need for Speed: Underground.

Because of a discussion over on AP.net, I put SOTY in my playlist too see whether I still cared about them and as it turned out, I do a lot, they were perhaps the first post-hardcore (kinda) band I loved, and they got me into the genre. They're still consistently great, though.
