This is the first part of my "favourite albums per year" series, which I'm going to list decade-wise.
Here I included the year 1959 though, just because.
It will always feature 5 albums per year (exceptions were made in the years 1959 to 1962, because I don't know that many albums from these years yet).
This list (and the further lists) will reflect my opinion of which albums I think are the best and of course which are my favourite ones in those years.

Please tell me what you think about it, tell me if I have overlooked something or whatever that'ss on your mind.

Think of 20 albums that had such a profound effect on you that they changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, or years. These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people, and emotions. In no particular order.

1. Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" I was young, and my taste in music tended to be on the cheesy mainstream side. I was fully aware of the Beatles, and I was a big fan of the animated "Yellow Submarine." I can still recite the movie pretty much from beginning to end. But one Christmas I asked for the Sgt. Pepper album. The SOUNDTRACK to the movie. The one that had the Bee Gees & Peter Frampton singing the Beatles songs. Yeah, seriously. So my clueless father, got me the Beatles LP. I was so disappointed. I did get the soundtrack from that horrible movie, but eventually, I came to really prefer the Beatles one. My father inadvertently did good (my father as a father is a long story) that day.

Stan Getz & João Gilberto – Getz/Gilberto

First, to get things straight: who is who?
The easy one: Antonio Carlos Jobim is the singer (with a very beautiful fragile voice). He's Brazilian, he wrote most of the songs. He's considered to be one of the creators of the bossanova style.
Then you have Stan Getz, he is the one who already made a bossanova/jazz record (Jazz Samba) with Charlie Byrd earlier. He plays the saxophone. He's American.
And then there's João Gilberto. As his name indicates, he's also Brazilian. He plays the guitar. He's also one of the creators of the style!
Oh, and the female singer, of course: Astrud Gilberto, wife of... Apparently she had never sung before, but sometimes it comes in handy to be married, right.

Alright, glad I sorted this out (too many strange names for my confused brain). What about the album? I already told about Jazz Samba that it was very, very beautiful music. However, the music was still very close to jazz.
