I said, "Hey, brown girl, I seen your tears through the window
Of the junk shop downtown"
Sellin' trinkets from your far off homeland
Did the Promised Land let you down?

Growing up in Minneapolis (Andover actually), I was around when they first started playing the Longhorn, First Ave., and other local spots before becoming a fixture on Grand Ave. and doing the holiday shows back at First Ave. It was awesome, with them, you knew you'd see a full show unlike what you got with the 'Mat's (too drunk to play, full sets of nursery rhymes or covers, outbursts, etc). It was pretty cool. On a friday night, you could pick between bars in the Twin Cities to see Soul Asylum, The Replacements, Husker Du and even Prince. For my and a lot of other peoples money, it was The Replacements hands down. Like the others, they all lost their original sound but isn't that normal or what happens as you mature and grow? Can you imaqine The Replacements getting back to play some songs and write or include a song like 'Fuck School' in the set? People move on, become more diverse and that is cool.

Anyone who thought 'Runaway Train' was some kind of a sell-out or departure from their original sound should give a listen to this.
