few times a record deserves the ''this record should be played loud'' label. this is one of those cases.

i can't imagine better production than this. it's meant to be loud, it evokes so much the feeling of a live concert. my favorite bit of the album is that part on rollercoaster where in the sea of distortion you can hear their vocals harmonizing, its so blissful

Don't know how anyone can even begin to imagine this album sounding any different than it does.

Took me a while to love it as much as I love Dig Me Out or The Hot Rock but now I think it's my favorite.

listen to nay of the other records dave has produced. it's how they're supposed to be. there's always a lot of stuff going on. and it's perfect.

I'm no musical expert, but I'm a fan of superlatives. Having said that: this is surely one of the best "last albums" ever.

There was a point in time where the heavy clipping and distortion bugged me but now I take it as part of the texture of the album. Makes me think of big bands cranking it out live on equipment that really can't handle their sound...so I guess I find it really charming because of it? Wonder what it would sound like if done in the same vein as their other works, though.

I used to not care for this album at all, but now I love it. I just realized how brilliant it truly is. It sucks it took me so long, but better late than never I guess.

Thinking about the production on this.. yes it is very loud- and incredibly noisy but I think that's integral to the sound of the record on the whole- sort of like the glue that holds it together. Love the drum sound on this record as it's so relentless.

lol Dave Fridmann loves to turn the dials all the way to "11". and damn if this didn't remind me of one of Neil Young's musical excursions, when this first came out in '05. great album. :D
