Yellowxander Geoff Tate video update: http://metaltalk.net/news2012-2/2012816.php

PhoenixShredds My feelings on this whole fiasco is ever evolving so I won't delve into that. What I will say is F.U. sounds nothing like Queensryche, even though it isn't THAT bad of an album (but it's nothing to write home about and is clearly rushed, all along with Tate's ever dwindling vocal ability). But the 3 songs I've heard from self-titled have impressed me and are better than I expected. I'm excited about this upcoming album. Todd has doen about as well as one could to replace such iconic shoes (say what you want about Tate, but you can't deny he is an icon). I don't hate Tate like a lot of people. Just really disappointed in him. He was always my favorite member, so it's sad to witness his demise.

Scythe20957 He's got his own style on the new album.

Gox973 Ok man, maybe is Tate insane but Todd isnt close to being in the same category as GT in his prime.Chris and Geoff's lyrics and Geoff's voice were the core of the band,I have no respect for Rising West,.they are little more than a tribute band. They are playing the hits that Geoff and Chris wrote and making money off them. You are obsessed with Todd..Who is that guy? a clone singer with no identity...

Scythe20957 Little contradicting when you say "no Geoff no Ryche" and then claim it doesn't matter after DeGarmo left. I really don't give a shit. The new album with Todd is great and it gives me a reason to go see the band again because my favorite songs won't be butchered by Tate.

Gox973 Hahaha better Tateryche than Duran Duran and Depeche Mode ...the next time read carefuly..I'm not Tate's lover..Frequency Unknown is average album with only 2 good songs. Queensryche was done and over when Chris DeGarmo left the band.No great or even good QR song without him...Queen Of The Ryche and Silent Lucidity are two most important songs in QR history, both written by Chris.Scott,Mike and Ed in reality contributed almost nothing to the band..Mike wrote a few riffs.and that's all...from 83 till 94 they lived off brilliance of Chris and Geoff. It's the only truth and you know it well.

Scythe20957 Cool, dude. I've got 1200 bands listed and you harp on Duran Duran? You can keep your Tateryche and go watch him and his circus butcher Mindcrime.

Gox973 Really? 13 times..Why not 14?.. incredibie album? masterpiece? probably is better than Operation Mindcrime...Why I'm not surprised?...cuz these words coming from fan of Duran Duran .. I got to spend a week with Queensryche while they were in Amarillo for a week getting ready for their Empire '91 tour. I got to party with them every night an set up Eddie with a girl who was my friend. Chris was getting drunk at our favorite bar on long-neck budweisers playing foosball all night, have lots of cool Queensryche stories but no Geoff no Ryche, I quit Ryche when Chris left cuz he wrote all their music practically, that show was amazing and how we met them and wound up spending a week with them was unreal.

Scythe20957 The new album with Todd is incredible. I've listened to it 13 times in two days. I can't wait to review it

peliculiar I wonder how can anyone think of "Frequency Unknown" as an Queensrÿche album? Tate and a bunch of hired guns (including great Craig Locicero and Paul Bostaph from [late?] Forbidden) recorded songs written by outside writers... The recent band (really?) members were hardly guests on the album... Where is the integrity? This is definitely solo album by sleazy Geoff Tate!

Killerkyle1994 Naming the "new" album self titled? I actually kinda think that's more childish than Geoff's "FU", wanna talk about tarnishing the name, and confusing fans, then why have 2 Queensryches with 2 albums named Queensryche? Rising West would have been a better album name, either way, it doesn't have Tate or DeGarmo, and they're the only 2 reasons I liked Queensryche, the only other one worth mentioning is Scott, but he can't even stand behind his own creations, so he's not worthy of my respect

SlitYourGuts can't wait for the first new Ryche record since Tribe.

Veinrot TBH I'm not a big fan of another self-titled album... "Redemption" would've actually been a fitting name, if not a bit cheesy

Piske81 Enjoying FU very much at the moment! LOL post grunge...

Anteat3r The problem isn't that Frequency Unknown is a terrible record (its pretty average): the problem is that its marketed under the Queensryche brand despite the fact that its a bunch of bland post-grunge songs paired with four horribly re-recorded/butchered classic songs. And to think I used to admire Tate for being so professional...guess time erodes even the best of 'em. :/
17 giorni fa -
tsudduth24 Frequency Unknown is not totally terrible. It doesn't seem to have a lot of polish, sounds perhaps a bit rushed. I liked "The Weight Of The World" and "In The Hands of God". Perhaps two songs that sum up Geoff Tate's state of mind

UltimaDude Redemption is so god damn good, I can't wait for the self-titled album in June. There's no denying that it'll be better than Geoff Tate's QR's Frequency Unknown, which was absolutely awful.

mavelix Orchestral arrangement of empire album sounds, was a strategic show and very atractive product, RIAA Certification 3 platinium is a sample. very successful.

mavelix "Dedicated to Chaos" is a "Magnum Opus" Creation of queensryche. No comparations. Real state of art and very creative sounds. Get Started, The Lie* (My Favorite), At The Edge, Wot We Do and Hard Times... is really different concept... no guitar solos...no cliche, no riffs 70, No "maiden" structures, etc.... No heavy metal 80's sound. Change state of Mind and superation of rock is a brave talent.

mavelix American soldier have great atmospheric sounds. Dead man words, Middle of Hell and At 30 Thousand Ft . My Favorite: The Killer!!!. The mission of art is a reflex of the life... and Queensryche show this effort.

mavelix Promise land have really great songs: Lady Jane, Bridge, Disconnected, Someone Else, And Promised Land... 7/10

mavelix No is necessary compare albums for determinate quality of music. Queensryche is a different concept. Every things changing all the time. Different fellings, thoughts. I don't hope reprise operation mindcrime or empire.

CioffDogg In my opinion, FU is better than Dedicated To Chaos, but worse than Q2K (my least favorite album of theirs before Dedicated To Chaos came out).

Commorragh "Frequency Unknown" sounds a bit familiar with "Promised Land" and "Tribe", both great albums. so what? "Frequency Unknown" is also a good one. Especially "The Weight of the World" - just awesome.

pinkflyd7 I saw Queensryche when they did their 1992 MTV Unplugged taping. They were at their height of greatness then. Sad how far they've fallen since. If they had retired after Hear in the Now Frontier (DeGarmo's last album with them), they would have left behind a great legacy.

Neue_regel_ @gezginrocker On DeGarmo, here's an interesting post off the 'ryche's forum, named: "Why Chris DeGarmo Left Queensryche in 1997 " : http://www.anybodylistening.net/breakdownroom/index.php?topic=2.0 Plus, if you check his lyrics in 'Some People Fly' off HITNF ('97) it's a bit clear that he likes a lot flying/driving jetplanes and being a pilot. Listen to that song, and read/decrypt between the lines where he wrote " I can't live your way. Go ahead without me. I'll find my own way - Some people fly...and some of us worry I'd risk it all to have wings." (Geoff sang, but it's DeGarmo' song) I mean, the guy just set his future path clear and out of this band. He deserves respect for being true to his words and dreams and finally achieving to become a pilot. (and actually a much more professional and serious pilot than the mere hobby-ist pilot Bruce Dickinson, who only flies occasionally)

gezginrocker Chris DeGarmo was the real creative force in the band. After he left, everything went downhill. I really don't think anything unique will come out of those 2 Ryches. Unless DeGarmo quits being a pilot and returns to music, Ryche story seems to be sadly over.
