Biografia

I Queens of the Stone Age sono una rock band statunitense, nata nel 1997 in seguito allo scioglimento dei Kyuss, band cardine e vero fulcro attorno a cui è nato e si è sviluppato il cosiddetto stoner rock.

Originariamente formati con il nome Gamma Ray dal chitarrista Josh Homme e dal batterista Alfredo Hernandez per scrollarsi di dosso l’etichetta stoner rock, etichetta che descriveva la musica della precedente band della quale facevano parte, i Kyuss, i Queens of the Stone Age svilupparono uno stile piuttosto mono tono, heavy e ripetitivo, che lo stesso Homme descrisse come robot rock. Questa definizione per i Queens è ormai da intendersi restrittiva, dato che la band è ormai considerata una delle più eclettiche e innovative del panorama dell’hard e dell’alternative rock.

    The album it's most similar to is Lullabies to Paralyze I would say, but with a good amount of Era Vulgaris/Them Crooked Vultures thrown in.
