PS. this band was named after the AC/DC album of the same name. In those years of violence and isolation in SA it seemed an appropriate choice for some sharp, sussed and angry Durban youths.

Punk in Africa is out in 2011. We're wrapping up shooting now. A lot of classic SA punk will be available again

ACϟDC were fairly punk in their early days. not a big part in the formation of punk. they came a little too late and soon lost much of their edge. and I've yet to hear a punk band credit them as their influence. Anyway this page is about South African anarcho not ACϟDC.

To the person who said that punk would not exist without AC/DC? Get your head out your ass. AC/DC may sound like a punk band because they play the same riffs over and over, but atleast punk bands don't play the same riffs for 30 years. AC/DC only got popular in what was it? 74? Punk bands were already starting about this time and before even with garage punk in the 60's. Learn your music history before you speak.

There's also a young Aussie hard rock band, both covering AC/DC and writing their originals (recently released an EP). Not the most original name for a band all in all.

When you name your band Powerage, you shouldn´t exactly be surprised that there´s gonna be a lot of AC/DC-references...and bands named after the AC/DC-album. And for f**ks sake, you cannot call AC/DC crap - that´s just stupid. I´ll bet you there wouldn´t have been punk if it wasn´t for AC/DC - among others. And I love punk too.
