Poison the Well (frequentemente abbreviato come “PTW”) è il nome di una band metalcore proveniente da Miami.
Chiamati in origine “An Acre Lost”, nacquero ad opera del cantante Aryeh Lehrer e dal chitarrista Ryan Primack. Poco dopo la loro prima pubblicazione il nome della band è stato cambiato in Poison the Well. Hanno pubblicato il loro primo album “Distance Only Makes The Heart Grow Fonder” nel 1998.
L’album ha attirato su di loro l’attenzione di Trustkill Records che fece loro firmare un contratto per più album. I PTW hanno licenziato il loro primo album per la Trustkill nel 1999, “The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation”.
L’album ottenne abbastanza successo che nel 2002 la band rilasciò “Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder” con la Undecided Records, contenente due bonus tracks ed il titolo leggermente differente.
Successivamente la band rilasciò un altro album con la Trustkill, “Tear From the Red” e un video per la canzone “Botchla”. La popolarità della band crebbe e la stessa firmò un contratto con la Atlantic Records. Nel 2003 la band fece il suo debutto su major, con “You Come Before You”.
Anche se la band sperimentò un grande successo sotto major, nel Giugno 2006 annunciarono che avrebbero concluso il contratto con l’ Atlantic Records a causa di “differenze creative”. A Novembre di quell’anno i Poison the Well firmarono ufficialmente con l’etichetta indipendente Ferret Music, che rilasciò
“Versions” nell’Aprile 2007.
