My favorite record of all time. I can't listen to it as background music while doing something. I always end up being completely mesmerized by its magnitude and beauty. So much emotion is unveiled with every note played and I never get anything done while listening to it because all my attention becomes devoted to the story it narrates.

While listening to this monster, all I can think is that Pat and Lyle have to be one of the greatest jazz partnerships ever. These compositions are beyond brilliant.

I'm going to say something very risky: I think this might just be The Best piece of music, from any genre or movement, that I have ever heard.

This album is so amazing. I've already listened to it all the way through at least 3 times over a period of time. I just reached the beginning of Part Three, and it feels like I've never heard this before.

my ex introduced me to pat metheny & lyle mays over 30 years ago. i even had the pleasure of seeing pat in a small venue in the late 70s, dartmouth college. wow! also saw pat & lyle at the greek in l.a. they excel outdoors, where your mind has room to expand under the night sky with every note. thanks sirblueskies for sharing your wonderful experience in mexico. pat & lyle are 2 gods at play!

I was lucky to see the band playing in Mexico City in 2003, at Metropilitan Theatre. - The only 1 time PMG has visited México. Pat declared at that time "he didn't expected that big audience of two full concerts", lots of ppl stayed out of venue, all tickets sold out. I remember we all went shocked out & surprissed when "Pat" introduced the band's members one by one. - He said at the end..."And now my very special friend and official drummer of Pat Metheny Group" ... Mr. "Antonio Sánchez" from México City...Wow, you should have seen when we all jumped out of our seats and clapped hands for over 15 or more minutes. - Antonio Sánchez felt endlessly happy & honoured. - It's a real pitty that PMG had come to México only once during their long musicians carreer. "You got to come back guys" -Check out this links to watch some Antonio's chronicles & videos. "Salúd with Tequila". http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Antonio_Sanchez.html / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPOd7m0Z51g&hl=es

So I showed up to see Pat Metheny Group play in Kansas City at the Uptown Theater during the tour for The Way Up. They came out and played for over an hour. It was incredible. Amazing music. Then Pat got on the mike and said, So that was our new album...now we'll play some older stuff. Then they played for another couple of hours.
