Man, I haven't listened to him or any jazz in much too long a time. Plus, I need to expand past Something Else!!!! and The Shape of Jazz to come. I think I'll make a jump in his catalog and go with Science Fiction. The title is so alluring to me.

Arthur, take into consideration how different The Shape of Jazz to Come was to the mainstream of jazz for the time it was released.

i absolutely, without reservation, adore and admire Skies of America. Beyond brilliant, a true milestone. I'm listening now in fact.

I don't normally like jazz, but this guy is truly amazing. Sometimes when I'm listening to a generic long beboppy jazz piece, I just feel that the obscene soloing becomes pointless after a while and that there's a total loss of atmosphere, flow and story. But this is the exact opposite. Every note is full of emotion; there's some unique beauty and mystery in each composition, its not just an indulgence in saxophone technicality.
