Dic 31 2012, 4:31 di ptparatroopaFor a week or so there I thought I wouldn't be able to post my Madonna list this year due to computer issues. Thankfully my boyfriend came to my rescue so I could uphold this tradition for a seventh year. <3 Spoilers: MDNA has a decent showing in its freshman year.

Dic 28 2011, 18:47 di ptparatroopaSo I've had this list done for like two months now but I've never found to time to write it up in a last.fm journal entry. Well, 2011 is almost over and the thought of breaking my tradition of making a yearly Madonna top 100 list is gross, so... I'm doing it now. Also this was finished before Gimme All Your Luvin' was leaked. I've still only listened to that once.
As always I have a Bubbling Under chart because cutting it down to 100 exactly is too brutal a thought for me:
125. Gone (Music)
124. To Have and Not to Hold (Ray of Light)
123. Nobody's Perfect (Music)
122. Something to Remember (I'm Breathless)
121. Another Suitcase in Another Hall (Evita)
120. I Know It (Madonna)
119. Bye Bye Baby (Erotica)
118. X-Static Process (American Life)

116. Heartbeat (Hard Candy)
115. Swim (Ray of Light)
114. Goodbye to Innocence (non-album)
113. Where Life Begins (Erotica)
112. Hollywood (American Life)
111. Intervention (American Life)
110. Dear Father (non-album)

Gen 24 2010, 20:59 di CaraliI hadn't done one of these in a really long time, so I thought it'd be fun. :)
step 1: open up whatever mp3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
step 2: put it on random.
step 3: post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
step 4: post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
step 5: cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
step 6: Looking them up on google or any other search engine is cheating!
1. Nobody likes you, everybody left you
2. So true funny how it seems (True by Spandau Ballet)
3. Passenger side, I slide on in

Set 22 2009, 2:12 di jamie_dj87Madonna - Celebration (Warner Bros.)
I've never been much of a Madonna fan *dodges flying objects*. I was too young to pay attention during the late 80s and 90s, and Music and American Life left me pretty cold. Loved Hung Up and Sorry, but Hard Candy was surprisingly boring. But she's been releasing music for an astonishing 25 years! So I think it's pretty mandatory for a self-confessed pop lover such as I to own a Madonna album - hence the trip to the record store for Celebration.
And I should be well and truly punished for my ignorance. For me to review each track would be pretty redundant and unnecessary, but just let me say that Holiday is just one of the greatest pop songs of the 80s, and the ballad Live to Tell was completely unexpected (I had never even heard it before today). In fact, the brilliance of these songs and their 'disc-mates' emphasises the mediocrity of the two new tracks attached to this collection. The 90s inspired dance track of Celebration is adequate - clubbers…

Feb 17 2009, 22:10 di hdsanderListen to music because you enjoy it.
Not because it's cool to be seen listening to.
I found this statement some days ago on this blog: Mainstream Isn't So Bad...Is It? and it is a wise device as I think. "A guilty pleasure is known as a something one considers pleasurable despite it being mainly received negatively or looked down on by a majority of society." A guilty pleasure is something you like, but you hide this affection, worrying about being uncool in the eyes of your environment. I looked at the guilty pleasure tag on Last.fm and found 87 of the top 100 songs in my iTunes. That makes me to the most uncool person here, doesn't it? Our friends, acquaintances, community, social life, whatsoever defines what a guilty pleasure is. Without doubt, everyone has some favorite songs that he/she listens, feeling inadequate, defining this to be a guilty pleasure makes it a bit more acceptable, doesn't it?
