In 1999 Giuseppe Festa self produced a cd, “Voci dalla Terra di Mezzo” (“Voices from the Midle-earth”) inspired by Tolkien’s work, putting his own music to the lyrics of the book “The Lord of the Rings”.

In 2001 this cd received much prise from the critics and Giuseppe received a letter of thanks and congratulations from Priscilla Tolkien, daughter of J.R.R. Tolkien.

In the meantime Giuseppe founds the band Lingalad, that means “The Singing of the Trees” in Elvish language: Giuseppe Festa (voice, guitar and flutes), Fabio Ardizzone (bass guitar and background vocals), Giorgio Parato (drums and percussions) and Claudio Morlotti (ethnic and ancient instruments).
In summer 2001 they win an award for the best song at the International Music Festival in Courmayeur with the song The Forest of Fangorn.
Since then Lingalad have performed all around the world: in 2003 they have been invited as guest of honour at The Gathering of the Fellowship in Toronto (Canada) and in 2005 they played their music in New York for the New York Tolkien Society at Marymount Manhattan College.
The band also played in Bruxelles (Tolkien50 years), Amsterdam, Poland (TolkFolk 2002) and England, performing both in English and Italian.
