I Lamb of God sono un quintetto groove metal americano, tra gli esponenti del cosiddetto NWOAHM (New Wave Of American Heavy Metal). Sono originari di Richmond Virginia e prima di cambiare il nome della band in Lamb Of God, si chiamavano Burn The Priest.
Le origini dei LOG risalgono al 1990, quando Chris Adler, Mark Morton e John Campbell erano compagni nella stessa università. Dopo la conclusione degli studi, Mark Morton si sposta a Chicago per aspirazioni personali, ma la band continua ad esistere. Subentra un altro chitarrista, Abe Spear e successivamente anche il cantante Randy Blythe. Il nome della band a quei tempi era Burn The Priest ed era sotto contratto con la Legion Records. Morton decide di ritornare nella band e poco dopo viene inciso un album discografico, intitolato Burn The Priest. Abe abbandona la band e al suo posto subentra il fratello di Chris Adler, Will Adler.
Un anno dopo l’entrata di Will Adler, la band cambia nome in Lamb of God e firma un contratto con la Prosthetic Records. Nel 2000 esce New American Gospel e la band va in tour per circa 2 anni, facendo conoscere così il “marchio” Lamb of God ovunque. Il successo si riconferma, in maniera nettamente superiore, con l’album As The Palaces Burn nel 2003, premiato anche da magazine come Revolver e Metal Hammer.
