So, on last nights show I spoke to Jordi Savall, he was in town to hold a workshop and perform a concert with Andrew Lawrence King. Last week he performed works from his two albums The Celtic Viol I & II. It was great to talk with him about his inspirations and music despite a few tech.glitches at the beginning.
Federic Mompou, was a Catalan composer, he composed Silent Music between 1959-1967 - its a solo piano work that is greatly influenced by Eric Satie. We listened to Book 3 - he was inspired by the writings of fifteenth century mystic St.John of the Cross, hmm. We listened to a recording by Jenny Lin.
