Ago 13 2010, 22:14 di pauljinksWhat do you do when you know it's over, when something so good just can't function no more, when you've cried till you're cried out and tried till you're tired out? Why, you write a song about it of course.
Here are my top 5 break up songs in no particular order:
Devastating I just discovered this artist. This is just one of his great songs.
Jealous Guy What's worse than losing your love? Losing it because you're an ass and then seeing the one you've spurned get along fine without you.
Nothing Compares 2U. I still love this track. A high point for both O'Connor and songwriter Prince.
It Must Have Been Love. Kinda cheesey but a great tear-jerker nonetheless.
I Know It's Over. "I know it's over, and it never really began. But in my heart it was so real". It's maudlin yes, but there's a generous honesty about it. A beautiful song about love that's only partly requited. Ultimately our ability to be "gentle and kind" in spite of disappointments and rejection is what holds true value. …
Ago 10 2010, 14:23 di missbarry1. How long have you been a Beatles fan?
Oooh since I was about 9 :)
2. How did you discover the Beatles?
My dad has most of their albums, and I had to sing Yesterday and Yellow Submarine in the choir when I was 9 haha.
3. Which "era" (early, mid or late) do you prefer and why?
That's really hard... I'll have to say mid (65-67) because that's when they were developing as artists.
4. Which album(s) is your favourite and why?
Rubber Soul is my favourite because I love all the songs
5. Which album(s) is your least favourite and why?
Beatles for Sale is pretty blah... they did a lot of covers on that one.
6. What are your top 10 Beatles songs?
01. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
02. I'm Looking Through You
03. I'm Only Sleeping
04. Helter Skelter
05. Love You To
06. When I Get Home
07. Hey Bulldog
08. Across the Universe
09. I Am the Walrus
10. Don't Bother Me
7. Are there any Beatles songs you really don't like? Which ones?
8. What are your views on each of the Beatles' films?

I've been in love with this track for such a long time, as has everyone else in Last.fm it seems if the charts are anything to go by. Last week, the new video for the track was released to online music magazines only, subject to regional permissions. Rolling Stone had global rights but their tiny little screen was of no use so I couldn't reco it here. Today, Mute uploaded it to YouTube, at long last. O.N.E is to be released as their new single on 23 March.
Expand the screen when you view. Marvel at the freaky man driving the car! Gasp at the Evil MySpace Background clothes! Admire the high tech electronic instruments!
Freaky Man with the bubbly head goes into a club, doesn't smile at anyone, not that they'd notice anyway because they're all too busy posing. …

Feb 9 2009, 19:03 di darren86The following are the top 10 albums of 2005 that I currently own. I probably own more than 10 albums from that year, but these are my favourites.
Note 1: I will be including compilations, live albums, ep's, re-issues etc, but no singles.
Note 2: If I do only own 10 from this year, the releases towards the end of the list may not be favourites of mine at all, but the best I do have from that year.
Note 3: If you think my list sucks, or needs improvements, please feel free to RECOMMEND me albums from 2005 and I will certaintly try to listen to them and give my opinions.
All comments welcome.
1. Curtain Call - The Hits
I now own all of Eminem's studio albums and this. I am not a big fan of the genre but in my opinion all anyone needs from Eminem is The Marshall Mathers LP and this compilation. All of his studio albums (with the exception of 'The Marshall Mathers LP') are pretty weak, with a few great songs thrown in between all the bad stuff. So here, you get all those greats, without having to skip through filler. …
