I was once told by a widely-published, well-known author that a writer, if he was lucky, had one original idea in his life and spent all the rest of his career re-wording it. ....( or "her" for the pronoun Nazis in the crowd.)

Composers have got to re use sometimes, classical comps did it all the time. Hell they even took bits from other composers pieces and worked them in. We have such a stupid modern view of 'plagiarizing' within music nowadays.

Surely you can hear it in Pirates... But that's how it goes, every artist has some motives he uses in several places... I love Hans anyway.

@skistar123: Have you ever listened to John Williams music? It's also pretty the same in Star Wars, Indiana Johnes or Harry Potter soundtracks. Still different. I think it's about that the same composer made those.

Did Zimmer self-plagiarise this for Pirates of the Caribbean? Parts of it are rhythmically exactly the same, and just a few notes are different. Whaaat?!

[Almost same as 'Mars'... ] EXACTLY! Note for note. A bit embarrasing -but then Holst was an amazing composer so no wonder people are copying him.

I noticed it too jlicurse. Not sure what to think about him recycling this track for Pirates... however, it does go very well with both movies.

This is where Pirates of the Caribbean was developed from, pretty much note for note, especially around the 6:21 mark.
