Mag 9 2011, 11:36 di traqua89The other day I thought to myself, how did I end up as this hardcore fan of country music? 22 years old, living in a Swedish town with approximately 130 000 inhabitants, wearing glasses, purple jeans and a T-Shirt promoting King Orgasmus One, Germany's biggest undergound/porno rapper.
Over the years my music library has shifted from rap, such as 50 Cent (who I've seen live 2 times by the way) to acoustic singer/songwriter, such as William Fitzsimmons. One beautiful day, at this point maybe a year ago, I "accidentally" downloaded an album with Hank Williams III. It took a while before I actually listened to the album but when I did, this wonderful feeling grew inside of me.
Since that day 1 year ago my top five artists have changed from 100% acoustic alternative singer/songwriter to pure HELLBILLY COUNTRY. At home there are more and more vinyls with the classic country heroes, such as George Jones and Willie Nelson. In my car all CD's have been replaced with Hank Williams Jr. …
Mag 5 2011, 3:11 di Rockstar_AimzSat 23 Apr – Hayes Carll / Jason Isbell
From my blog: My Aimz is True
About a minute into Hayes Carll's first song Chances Are a big cheer erupted from the crowd. No, the crowd wasn't cheering for the protagonist in this heartfelt ballad. They were celebrating the fact that the Boston Bruins had just beaten the Montreal Canadians in double overtime. For a second there I thought I was back in Canada, but then I remembered that the Leafs never make the playoffs. I hope the Texans on the stage weren't confused either. Welcome to Boston!
Carll headlined the sold out gig on Saturday, April 23, at the Brighton Music Hall in Boston, playing all but one song from his tremendous 2011 album KMAG YOYO (And Other American Stories), and other great tunes from his back catalog. (The one song he didn't play from the new album was a Christmas song, which really didn't fit on the day before Easter).
After the warm up ballad, Carll and his band dug into the country rock with Hard Out Here and It's a Shame…

Gen 2 2011, 9:55 di menslarI enjoy listing my top artists each year, and 2010 will be no exception. Below are listed my top 50 artists for 2010, the top track(s) and top album(s) for each listed artist, and the position those tracks and albums attained in my 2010 charts. Maybe you'll spot some of your favorites on my charts. If you see any artists, albums, or tracks here that you aren't familiar with, maybe you'll consider giving them a listen. My charts are as much a mixed bag this year as years passed, but I listened to some artists in 2010 to whom even I am a bit surprised to find myself listening. I was in a strange mood this past year, I guess.
There were a lot of ties for track and album positions in 2010, so you'll see some duplicate ranks for tracks and albums in this list. There was even a tie this year for the #50 position for artist rankings, which makes this a top 51 list instead of a top 50 list...
#50 (tie): Brandy 108 plays
Top Track: Afrodisiac track #264
