i will agree with both of you about Jerry-alot of feeling and layerings that are quite different from r.t.-i would hate to say sensitive and delicate due to the negative conotations, but he really has a different perspective that adds to the songs on the album.

Once again I agree with Raggleman, Jerry Donahue is a great, inventive and sympathetic guitarist, and this album has some beautiful tracks on it. According to the wiki, they may not have been all that great live which could have contributed to their breakup - perhaps part of this was the eternal problems at that time of getting a decent live sound on acoustic guitars especially when mixed with electric instruments as they had a tendency to get a bit swamped. Also, from listening to the arrangements the band were fairly intricate and subtle, maybe this didn't come across very well live. I saw Sandy when she joined Fairport again in about 1973-4, and they were bloody marvellous as always.

I'm going to be a grumpy old man and point out that Fotheringay were not just Sandy Denny you knoiw. Jerry Donahue can give Richard Thompson a darn good run for his money. I'll shut up now......
