Gen 8 2007, 17:38 di FunkafonikHere's my list of favorite albums, listed by year of release, from 1990 to 1999.
These are general rankings of how I see them today and based on the Last.FM playcounts (2005-now) put through my formula:
Total of each Album's Song's (running time X playcount)
Album's Total Running Time
Thanks to MediaMonkey, that formula gives the Albums' REAL playcounts, taking every song's lenght/playcount into consideration. You'll see the result besides each albums, along with my 10* Rating, and total % these ratings give each Year.
Note that I haven't necessarily discovered and enjoyed all these albums on their released years, some I discovered years later. So these are also based on how important (to me) some of these albums were at the time.
(**) are the complete albums I was into at that time;
(*) are albums that contained only a few song(s) I was into or listened to;
and those without are albums I discovered years later.
Ott 2 2006, 2:48 di mikeroach113Unsurprisingly, Virginia Wolf are still on top, and tomorrow, I get started on their song "It's In Your Eyes". The rest of the weekly top 10 are:
5.Stone Temple Pilots
2.Pay No Mind (Snoozer)
5.Big Empty (they aren't grunge, no matter what MTV, VH1, or anybody who looks up to them says)
7.Punk Rock Girl
9.Push Th' Little Daisies
8.Extreme II: Pornograffitti
9.When In Rome
10.Roll With It
Set 24 2006, 21:32 di mikeroach113You'd think that the start to finish listening party or whatever of Blood Sugar Sex Magik would've ended Virginia Wolf's reign at the top which has been going on for who knows how long now, but instead, they're still dominating all of the weekly charts with their self-titled release, and Waiting for Your Love. I predict VW will be on top for the next three months as well. Also this week, Weird Al's two new songs "Don't Download This Song" and "You're Pitiful" (the latter a parody of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" have found their way onto the charts, along with Pay No Mind (Snoozer) and I Call It Love. There positions on the overall chart probably aren't very high, because I just got Mellow Gold and Coming Home like the day before yesterday, and I downloaded the two Al songs from some site earlier in the week. Anyway, here's the charts for this week:
2.Red Hot Chili Peppers
7.Weird Al Yankovic
Set 17 2006, 20:27 di mikeroach113You'd think that the Roger Waters marathon I spawned to celebrate me seeing him at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 13, that him or Pink Floyd would be the artist of the week, or the "Monkees" marathon I had to honor their 40th Anniversary would've put them on top, but instead, Virginia Wolf are still on top. VW could be on top for a long time..... Anyway, here's the rest of this week's top 10:
6.Can't Get Out of Bed
8.(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone
2.Then & Now...The Best of the Monkees
3.Slave to the Grind
5.Up to Our Hips
7.Extreme II: Pornograffitti
9.Brick By Brick
