I used to be one of the biggest Devin fanboys around but nowadays I'm strongly of the opinion that the man needs to change his game up a bit more. Sky Blue was good at best and had a decent amount of filler too and Dark Matters did practically nothing for me, feeling more like a comedy than an album. I feel he's rehashed the Addicted sound a few too many times and I hope he takes a little break and comes back with something of the quality of his 2000s recordings. A fully progressive but also modern album with twists and turns aplenty like the days of Ocean Machine, Terria and Accelerated Evolution would be right up my street. (Admittedly Casualties of Cool was an amazing album and shows he's definitely still got that genius in him).

So he played Funeral, Bastard, and The Death of Music in the second half of his Royal Albert Hall set. Can't wait to see that on DVD.

We shall see what kind of state of mind he has when comes back from his upcoming break. I also hope that he would do more ambient stuff in the future.

I still love everything Devy has done since he has started.....but I really want more Ambient albums or even noise albums. Devlab and The Hummer are sadly overlooked by a lot of people it seems.

I'm intrigued to see in which direction he goes after this big Ziltoid show, he's taking a break (finally) and whenever that has happened before, we've got some really fresh new music from him.

@Snowtrace To me it's the other way around. I love the huge, epic, poppy metal he's making these days. I tend to call it Pet Shot Boys with heavy guitars. I do love CoC and Ghost though, I listen to those records constantly. I never really got into KI though. There's a few songs on there I really like, but some of it sounds like a jam-session in my ears. I understand the appeal of both sides of Devin though.

I'm thinking Casualties turned out much better than both Epicloud and Z2 and hoping that he could lean towards making more stuff in the vein of Ki/Ghost/CoC. I find myself too overwhelmed by both Epicloud and Z2 most of the times, as though his latest huge/ bombastic/ loud and noisy albums don't do it for me anymore.

I think all we enjoy is because we have a brain so we can translate to feelings everything we do in the "external word". Even if we wouldn't have ears we could experiment music EXACTLY in the same way as we do now just activating the right neural network at the right time in the right way. I may be worng but I think it's a matter of time that something like that is achieved. See this: . Music is the tool you use to get somewhere: feeling. It's like (loosely) when you broke a leg and you use a crutch (the tool) to be able to walk. You don't need that crutch once your leg is healed, you can do the same (walking) by yourself.
