This round or purchases was egged on by the discovery of an old British TV series called "The Sweeney". A gritty copy show about a no holds barred police squad leader who takes down robbers. The soundtrack is filled with great orchestral jazz-funk but alas it's out of print. So I found it over it at www.dustrygrooves.com for a good price and decided I should make the cost of shipping worth while (a deadly excuse to spend $100 on CDs). Here we go.
Pulp Fusion: Africa Funk
Pulp Fusion: Revival Boogie Down
Pulp Fusion: Fully Loaded
My first Pulp Fusion compilation was Pulp Fusion: Evolution which became my primer for gritty ghetto jazz and funk. Unfortunately none of the compilations have come cheap. Where I normally pay less than $25 for a CD these guys were pushing $35. So I was happy to see them for $20 at Dusty Groove while money was still almost at par.
