Sockmonkey15 Your opinion Punk-Fiction, doesn't render a perfectly sound album "incompetent". You're in good company if you don't like Collections as much, many people don't, and it's quite apparent. Saying that it's insulting to the band's previous works is asinine however, and you're personally not in a position to make such a judgement. Hell, I don't like Collections as much as Acolyte, but Delphic is entitled to their own artistic pursuits, which they exercised in making a different sort of album. It's fair to say that you dislike it, but it's not fair to make objective and overly-harsh statements. Music is rarely objective.

Devin Townsend's new album includes and features pop influences and styles. Pop has it's place in modern music, and always will. People bitching about Collections just don't care for pop music, which is fine. But it's inherently no better or worse then Acolyte. YOU just don't like it as much.

TyreneB Seems there is always going to be dissension about any sort of departure from any bands perceived norm. I like a mix and change in routine. It is refreshing and like others have mentioned when I need my Acolyte fix I simply put it in queue and enjoy :)

jjalsop lol @ all the folk bitching about Collections. It doesn't sound anything like NSYNC (seriously, are you people deaf?). If you want Acolyte, go and listen to Acolyte. Don't chastise a band for trying something different.

Acquiescence It's not so much the individual songs I have a problem with on Collections, but rather the direction in sound that the band opted for. Mixing Passion Pit (good) with Nsync (very bad) was a bad decision, and pretty much alienated their fanbase while failing to grab a substantial new one in the process. I wouldn't be surprised if they split up soon, which is a shame really because Acolyte will always be a classic in my eyes.

pink-spartan I like "Collections" and yes I've probably read 3759333053 comments complaining how the album is nothing like "Acolyte". I guess they wanted to try something different, I've seen a lot of artists who have new albums that sound pretty poppy, but I think it's great how they can be versatile and change their sound, it makes them not static at all.. Plus if you like their old stuff, you should just listen to their old stuff.. no harm in that, is there? lol

danzero This second album lacks identity. Their first album was my most listened album from 2010 and I believe that I might like "Collections" a little bit more, but never as much as "Acolyte".

Alan_TWLOHA Baiya, Atlas and The Sun Also Rises are great songs. I like the new album,but the old one is different, and got such a dark and misterious vibe. Thats what I love about them.

aFonderReel Ich muss sagen, dass mich die Kommentare zu dem neuen Album mich ganz schön verschreckt haben. Ich höre mir das Album gerade an, und muss sagen, ich finde es einwandfrei. Weniger Post-punk-Einflüsse, ein bisschen poppiger. Kein bisschen schlechter als der Acolyte.

intermack For what it's worth, I'm quite impressed with the new material and the direction in which they went. I'm enjoying the new release immensely. It's a great evolutionary step and shows maturity. I agree that it's a much more fleshed out, polished sound with encompassing soundscapes. Sophomore releases are always tricky and prone to disappointment, but I'm glad that this one manged to avoid the usual pitfalls.

skalor I'm shocked at the change of sound because I felt the old sound hadn't got even close to stale yet (but perhaps that's a different story for them). Now i'm over the shock of the complete change and readjusted my brain. I'd say half of Collections is really solid. The Sun Also Rises is amazing, the Good Life (re-edit) feels more Delphic like and is brilliant. Who would have thought Baiya and Changes would grow on me too. I just hope Delphic have fans who can adjust their head for this album and for new live shows lol.

BenzoMay44 It's a much more precise and polished sound, bigger soundscapes with deeper production values. The songs are a lot more dramatic and catchy. It's a different sound to Acolyte but that's not a problem because if I wanted to hear songs that sounded like that I'd listen to Acolyte. Of The Young, Baiya, Changes, Atlas, The Sun Also Rises and Memeo are all great tracks. Can't wait to get the actual disc mix and not the horrible rip that's circulating.

George336 Disappointed punter. The album is not exactly dogshit poor. It isn't as bad as the sophomore effort from The Temper Trap, for example, but apart from 'Memeo' and 'Baiya, there's nothing on it to stir the loins.

Logixx New album is the disappointment of the year really... All shit poppy electronic tunes, nothing like the epic build-up and explosions of happiness in many songs of the first album. The last song of the new album (Exotic) is typical imo: a slow, boring beat and even a rapper?! R.I.P. Delphic
