Very immersive stuff, indeed. I could do without the Of Montreal style cover art tho.

Ok, I did, and it is a solid label, but I still feel the same about the cover art.

https://www.xlr8r.com/podcasts/2017/10/influences-01-deepchord/ - Rod Model on his recent mix consisting only of traditional pop from the 50's-60's era. "This stuff is great for listening to while smoking a pipe on a beach at dusk and watching sailboats". "So here's a little mix of stuff that I listen to in my home or on the iPod. I've been on a HUGE Andy Williams and Perry Como kick lately. I think this stuff has inspired Auratones more than anything contemporary or electronic. I think if Andy Williams or Perry Como were alive today, they could really appreciate Auratones (...) I find this so much more exciting than any kind of modern music (...) So much music today is dark, depressing, and overly aggressive. It actually harms the nervous system. Lots of modern techno is more brutal than SWANS or Fushitsusha Records from the 1980s. (...)" - Says Rod Modell.

Modell's recent releases are going deeper into darker sonic territories, and I'm loving it.

Yes, and it's reasoning like that which makes labels charge black market prices to the few dozen who spend their hard-earned cash to buy a release while the rest of the world feels justified in downloading it for free. Can't you see anything wrong with this picture? If monetary value equated artistic value when purchasing music we'd all be royally screwed. And restricted supply is no excuse either. You need to meet your demand at a fair price. And even if you don't gauge that correctly in the first place, it's not impossible to keep vinyl releases available by re-pressing them as and when needed. Just look at labels like Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound and Maurizio. And I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how much those records are worth.
