    1. How did you get into 31? (UVERworld)
D-tecnoLife was the second opening theme to Bleach. I loved the song and sought out more of their music, which at the time was very little (on a major label and thus available, that is). They've kinda disappointed me since but still have lots of great songs, and come up with new great ones every now and then too.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22? (Czesław Śpiewa)
That would have been either Ucieczka z Wesołego Miasteczka or Maszynka do świerkania, depending on whether I listened to the lead single before getting the album; I forget. Either one would have been enough to completely win me over, though.

    3. What is your favorite lyric by 29? (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Hah, tough one: no matter what, it'd be off of Stadium Arcadium, though. There's "you're talking like a lady but you're walking like a sauerkraut" from Storm In A Teacup, or "I saw you there so unaware / those hummingbirds all in your hair" or "right on the verge…

  • The Wilderness of Manitoba: When You Left the Fire

There's something about bands with Canadian provinces in their names.

I've written about my love for The Rural Alberta Advantage, who this year released an outstanding second album and put on one of the best live shows I've seen in a while. A few weeks ago I was browsing my last.fm recommended artists and noticed a band called The Wilderness of Manitoba. Occasionally just the name of a band can give you a pretty good inkling that you're going to like them. That happened for me here, and the feeling was most definitely correct.

The Wilderness of Manitoba released their debut full-length, When You Left the Fire, two weeks ago, and if you like indie folk with gorgeous harmonies, this could just be your new favorite album. The dreamy opening notes of first track Orono Park are enough to instantly transport me, perhaps to the wilderness in a simpler time and place. Then the vocals come in, and it's really a thing of beauty. Most of the music on this album is fairly simple. Acoustic guitar, sometimes a banjo or string part. …

Normally I'm far more thoughtful when I do these. After Phoebe died I lost all sense of wanting to even finish listening. I basically went two weeks without listening to music at home (still did in the car to pass the time).... and yesterday I just decided to finish it. Cause I'd be mad at myself if I hadn't finished/written this by February. So two weeks into the new year, I give you my top 35 of last year.

This year I have no downloads, no pictures, no nothing. Just no motivation (on top of being still sick) to do all the research. BUT I did listen to my entire list. Which you can find off my 2010 albums tag.

    35. Bad Books - Bad Books: It's a "supergroup" of Manchester Orchestra and Kevin Devine. Love both of their records from 2009, and Bad Books is good, but I surely prefer them on their own.

    34. Belle & Sebastian - Write About Love: Dunno what happened here, or if I've just moved on from Belle and Sebastian or, just not in a lovey mood? Doesn't grab me the way other records of theirs did on first listen. …

So, it’s Christmas and as all good things must come to and end, so is 2010. Time to make my end of year list...
This year has been really good for me, both on personal as on musical aspects.
On the musical side I discovered a lot of good albums and bands and I had the chance to meet some really nice and interesting people from all over Europe.
Also, me and some friends started our own band, called If Anything Happens To The Cat (you can listen to some demo’s here: http://listn.to/ifanythinghappenstothecat). I think we are moving along very well and if we continue like this, I guess we should be able to come out of our rehearsal room somewhere around spring 2011. :)
So here’s my list, please recommend me things I might have missed and tell me what your favorite musical moments of 2010 were!!
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a very happy newyear, I hope you can all share it warm and safely with your beloved ones.
