What a band! Interesting to hear the song with a decent drummer.

I know this has been said but this is one of the best songs ever. The Beach Boys were my parent's band but me and my 2 sisters loved them too. Good Vibrations was always my favorite. ADVICE: If you are sad, listen to the Beach Boys!

Some parts of the harmonies are definitely more nuanced and beautiful, but on the whole, I think the old one is the better version.

Crackin' pop song . . . I love both versions, but the 60s version obviously is so well known that there would be a predictable reaction, with vociferous differences of opinion. At least it's not like Madonna doing a cover of American Pie (though perhaps that's not the worst example of cover versions?)

LOL, arguments over preference. How rational.

The original may sound better because it's The Beach Boys in 1966, obviously. But of the recreations on Wilson's 2004 Smile album, I find this to be one of the best. Does the sound and feel of the original quite a bit of justice, and I like Wilson's preferred lyrics better than those in the single version or on the new Smile Sessions release. However, I don't expect the 1966 Beach Boys 45 rpm single of Good Vibrations to grace my turntable any less.

It's definitely better. Also, this is my favorite Animal Collective song.

This version is about 2.3X better than the original. I don't even listen to the original anymore, it leaves me very dissatisfied. The tone on the theremin is so thin on the Smiley Smile version, and I think the cello and well, basically every other instrument sounds better on this version, too! Plus the ending fades out longer, and it just makes me want to listen to it again!

I prefer this version. Mainly because it's stereo.
