I admire the fact that he called a song of his own "overwritten"; many artists don't even understand the concept.

GREAT record, this Infidels thing. And while no, it's not perfect, I've actually come to believe Bob was right to leave off Blind Willie McTell and Foot of Pride. He called the former unfinished and the latter overwritten, which is exactly how I feel (wonderful as both are). Now, Death is Not the End, on the other hand... I'da welcomed that shard of dismal beauty here. But it'd be a bitch to sequence. The whole record must've been.

Nooo, the cover photo is from 1982 or 1983 when he was visiting Israel -

Massive grower, this. Hell of an atmosphere! And yes, "unlike anything."

As much as I would've liked Blind Willie McTell instead of Union Sundown, INFIDELS is still a masterful record, a remarkable collaboration between Dylan the human and Dylan the prophet, tasteful and compassionite and urgent. His most apocalyptic album in many ways. The world could come to an end tonight but that's alright, the album will still be there when I get back.

I love the chapter on Infidels in Daniel Mark Epstein's book, about how he listened to the record with his son.

The music on this record is solid and Dylan's delivery is a lot better than on his previous records from the 80's. I like it.

One of his finest '80s outings for sure.

oh sing it bob. the fact that i'm just getting into dire straits and knopfler is on this album is giving it a whole new lease of life. i'd love to know who's playing each guitar part though.

The lyricism is mostly good, but I can't look past at how cheesy his delivery and the music sounds...

oh god it's so hypnotic! Knopfler was a perfect choice for this record.

"jokerman", "sweetheart like you", "I and I", "Don't fall Apart on me Tonight" and "License to Kill" are all legitimately great songs. that's more than half the album right there. "Union Sundown" and "Man of Peace" are both very solid good songs. I don't really like "Neighborhood Bully" very much, so that's one bad song. That makes for a great album in my opinion.

I like it too but wouldn't call this a solid album. It's an OK Dylan album with a weak side b. Honestly, if this had been another artist and you weren't a Dylan fan, I doubt most of you would give it the following plays that would make it grow on you.
