Brilliant album. My favorites - Battlefield and Wait for an Answer.

"And Then There Was Silence" is the greatest power metal song ever written.

"The remaster/remix is infinitely better than the original" Nah, they ruined it with bass (not the instrument, in general) far too loud in the mix.

Occasionally, this album seems excessive and I revert to, say, Somewhere Far Beyond (or any of the previous three albums). Other times, I can't get enough of it. Odd.

The remaster/remix is infinitely better than the original. It's my favourite BG record nowadays, "Battlefield", "Punishment Divine", plus "And Then There Was Silence" are my favourite songs of theirs.

the new mix included in their box set is amazing. NOW its really awesome. less overwhelming, even more brutal and finally you can hear every instrument and most of the lanes they used. less is more, the new mix is perfect.

this album perplexes me. it's so mind-numbing and headache-inducing. are there any choruses? any hooks? do the songs follow verse-chorus structure? i can't tell.

I love this album. Third for me, after Nightfall in Middle-Earth and A Twist in the Myth.

Everything perfect in its kind has to transcend its own kind, it must become something different and incomparable. In some notes the nightingale is still a bird; then it rises above its class and seems to suggest to every winged creature what singing is truly like. (Goethe on Blind Guardian)

Although not as consistent in quality as some of the band's other efforts, I would personally say that it contains some of their best material. For the most part, it's exceptional.
