March Fires is fantastic. Not sure what MelonHCST is on about. Here is my review, 8/10 http://bensmusicspot.blogspot.com.au/2013/04/birds-of-tokyo-march-fires.html. For a lower fat version, check out my top 20 records of the year so far, March Fires comes in at number 8. Sure it is a pop record, but it is so listenable and if you dig a little deeper you'll see it's a brilliant story about a mans struggle to break free from the shackles of depression and darkness and motivate others to do the same with him

the new cd is just fine people. geez.. relax. they have moved on to a more dreamy type sound and got away from the overplayed garage/grunge/emo sound. yes i said emo. cause that first ep is horrible. i mean cant you tell by the new cd cover alone they going for a more dreampop sound. here's to hoping they push it even further the next cd.

Seems that Birds Of Tokyo are slipping more and more into the generic radio fodder territory. I liked the new album for what it's worth, a dull trip of decent songs that try way too hard to sound like Coldplay (another band that are really becoming uninteresting for me). Don't get me wrong, there are good moments. Even some songs sound like Youth Lagoon (I love that band). There is just nothing interesting at all to be had on March Fires. It sounds like commercial music marketed for mass appeal. This album just makes me really want another Karnivool album even more.

I love all their previous albums but this one...man, this one IMHO is so boring and repetitive that it's hard to believe it's still Birds of Tokyo. And what is worst, Ian's voice got so washed out of any emotions that it hurts.

I agree, mandahs. Although I think Plans is by far the worst track on the record. I usually start the album from track 2, from then on it's brilliant, and probably their best work yet. Looking forward to the new one, just apprehensive about how "commercial" it's gonna sound.
