Nick Cave's Jukebox again
Another CD set of songs which have inspired Nick Cave over the years is going on the market. This is the third this year and the fifth overall. The first two were Original Seeds way back in 1998 and the follow up Original Seeds, Volume 2 in 2004. I would rate the first Original Seeds very highly just because there was nothing like it before but now that is very different.

I wrote a journal about Theme Time Radio Hour With Your Host Bob Dylan not that long ago with the themes Coffee and Dogs which both were season one episodes. Coffee episode was one of the first being episode 5 which was first aired on May 31, 2006 and Dogs was episode 16 first aired on August 16, 2006. Season one had 50 episodes but we are up to season 3. With the theme episode Goodbye on April 15, 2009 which was the 100th original episode. It is unknown whether Theme Time Radio Hour will continue into a Season 4 but Dylan himself, during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine implied that his contract had ended. No official announcement about the show's future has been made at this time.

The new Bob Dylan album Together Through Life which is a cool album. I might have to listen a few more times. The bonus disc is the Friends & Neighbors episode but you can hear the Theme Time Radio Hour songs rubbing off on his new songs. I hope they official released all 100 episodes (somewhere or sometime). …

So, as many of you know by now I'm taking a History of Rock course for one of my electives. Its hard to believe a class covering the history of rock is worth 3 credits.

Anyway, I would like to think I know something about the history and progression of rock. Building upon the blues and R&B basis, throwing in the poor-white-boy-country to form rockabilly and then really taking off from there. Just by listening to things, even in chronological order, its hard to really imagine how influential an artist is on another or how important an artist is to a single genre without some extra, third-party knowledge being thrown in. Whether its a book (this is the book for our course), a course, or a combination of the two. Sure, its easy to hear just how good an artist was back in the day and with some exceptions (ie: Bo Diddley Beat) it takes more than simply listening to an artist to develop a sense of influence surrounding them.
