I Between The Buried And Me sono una band proveniente da Riley, North Carolina, fondata nel 2000.
Sul genere da loro proposto, ci sono varie discussioni, talvolta discordanti (Spesso si parla anche di Metalcore). Tuttavia, il loro genere si può classificare in un Mathcore (Vengono infatti paragonati ai The Dillinger Escape Plan) venato di Progressive, con influenze che spaziano dal Death metal al Jazz passando per il Grindcore.
Agli inizi, la line-up della band prevedeva Tommy Rogers alla voce, Paul Waggoner alla chitarra, Will Goodyear alla batteria, Nick Fletcher alla chitarra e Jason King al basso.
Il primo album della band, Self-titled, fu rilasciato nel 2002 su Lifeforce Records. Esso già aveva tracciato le linee stilistiche che avrebbero sempre contraddistinto i futuri lavori (3 delle canzoni inserite facevano parte del primo demo, 2001), mostrando un genere influenzato da diversi generi (Le canzoni, stilisticamente, variano all’interno dell’album, ma restando fedeli agli accenni Death metal, grindcore e thrash con venature progressive e jazz). Nonostante l’album sia poco conosciuto (e raramente suonato anche ai concerti), l’incisione attirò le attenzioni della Victory Records, con la quale il gruppo firmerà prossimamente un contratto.
Nel 2003 uscì il secondo album, The Silent Circus, che segnò una netta evoluzione stilistica da parte del gruppo. Da questo album venne estratto il primo singolo,Mordecai, soggetto anche del loro primo video.
Nel 2005 esce l’album che li rese famosi presso il grande pubblico, Alaska, considerato anche il più maturo del gruppo.
Il successivo album, Colors, è invece targato 2007, mentre nel 2006 è uscita una raccolta di cover delle band ispiratrici, intitolata The Anatomy Of…
