Post-punk, post-hardcore, post-rock, post-jazz, post-electronica, post-post? - what does it mean when a genre is defined by what came before it? One of the complaints about the "post-whatever" genres are that they don't really tell you that much about the music. It might mean "I used rock instruments to make ambient music" or "this jazz isn't like any jazz you've heard before". While I can understand the criticism, I think that what the "post-" tag means is that the musicians pushed the limits, tweaked the rules or otherwise did something a little non-standard.
