Berry Sacharouf's music is distinctively European as he played alongside Rami Fortis in Belgium in the early 80's. His music is a meld of alternarock, heavy on the feedback and distortion-fuzz, thick fat drumming and a voice that takes you by the short and curlies.
I listened to his music on Israeli radio in the early 90's at the hieght of his career, but his best music is the first three albums (two here are featured for slae on Amazon, but you can buy them cheaper from http://israel-music.com). His rock instrumentals are a fav of mine: they are intense and so Middle-East-influnced.
He is a great singer and a wonderul lead guitarist, too!
If you don't know any Hebrew or you can only listen to rock in English, there are two bands you need to know about that Berry was a member of. First, Foreign Affair (album 'East on Fire' is my favorite), and another band called Minimal Compact that mixed electronica beats with dance-floor Euro-pop in the 80's.
