We want a fair lastfm, the decission to close the radios to some countries is wrong and is discriminatory. We want another solution!

The decision to close radios to all countries except usa, uk and germany is completely unfair and is the way lastfm choose to dig their own graves: there will be a massive exodus of users. We want a better way to solve the problem of money, maybe more adsense, limit a quantity of songs per day, something. We want an explanation, we want to be lastfm users with the same rights around the world

This group is not for insult, blame or curse. Is just to talk politely about this decission of the lastfm crew.

3 euro per month isn't breaking my back, but i would like them to get rid of stream glitches.

I live in the US, so I'm not affected by the new subscription requirement. I love last.fm. But the fact that everyone but people in the US, the UK and Germany have to subscribe strikes me as unfair. Everyone should get the same treatment. This kind of commercial discrimination makes listening to last.fm less of a pleasure.

For some of you this is probably old news, already, but for those who don't know. A group of free software users and developers gathered around the creation of a real alternative to last.fm, scrobbling included, that is really free (both as in free speech and free beer). It is still in an alpha stage of development, so it doesn't have much features for now, but scrobbling and statistics works great already, and they have a better privacy policy than last.fm does. As it is still alpha, for now works only scrobbling, statistics, profile editing, and listening tracks from Jamendo. But there is a lot of work in progress and the whole thing looks VERY promising. I think they deserve our support. Take a look at http://libre.fm/ You can see my profile at http://alpha.libre.fm/user/franko

I really like lastfm and I like using it to find out about music from other countries, so this does sem a retrograde step to me. I don't really understand how anything on the web finances itself but it seems that the bigger you are 9the more market share you have) the better.

I decided to subscribe and support last.fm. perhaps if the subscriber rates increased we could give the rights back.

That decision was stupid. You will get cash from the dumb people that will pay for radio (for your information, radio has always been free, even on the internet there are thousands of free radio stations). But do you know what you will lose? Users. That simple. Many people, including me, started to use last.fm because of the radio feature. You are losing thousands of users, not just the ones that will go after your decision, but also new ones that wont find here the featured you were mostly known for. You will get some cash, but you will lose the opportunity to reach a worldwide audience, which in the long run would give you a lot more cash. Yes, you are BIG, you are the CBS, and you don't give a f*ck about what we say.

Paying for radio - Dumbest idea ever. Last.FM what were you thinking ? Paying for commercial artists - ok, that I can somehow understand ! But WHY the heck should I pay for listening to artists that posted their music on this site for FREE ? After all, they don't get any money from my $3 per month ! Last.fm did something very very stupid here !

I'm from the UK, and I think the idea is ridiculous. Why shouldn't everyone have the same rights to music... just because I was born on English soil, I get more music? Is that fair? Really? I think we all know the answer.

uhm…maybe they could make a full-year subscription discount… btw, speaking as a musician, i feel sorry having to pay this fine only to replenish royalties cashes. I think lastFm was a real good way to spread new music and launch new musicians. The cancer of music is everything that prevent it from spreading. I’m financing royalties in many ways, buying cds and dvds, and playing on stage…I can’t see why i should pay them in another new way, subscribing to lastFm. this is the reason why I had real fun, I am very grateful to this community for the lots of new artist that i discovered, and to new music i listened to, but I’m leaving. I prefer to continue to listen to free music from other streaming radioes. There are many others outside, in the web. Thanks LasFm, this is goodbye

That's exactly what they wanted you to do. And they didn't put any new date, or I haven't noticed it. It is a diversive action! STOP SCROBBLE!!!

I've started scrobbling again, since the switch has been postponed.

Here we are! The strike has begun in my timezone, too, about one hour ago. I scrobbled my last scrobble, and now no scrobbling untill they give the radio back for free. If it takes forever, let it be forever! No radio for free? No statistics for free, neither!

@asia-research I've seen a post from someone who said they'd open a protest group on facebook... but protest groups on facebook are about the most useless things I've ever seen. Anyway, last.fm have taken their decision and there's no going back on that.
