Strictly speaking, this doesn't have anything to do with Ubuntu, but there is some overlap between Creative Commons music and free software, so I thought I would share. I now do scheduling for http://rynothebearded.com. Any Creative Commons bands should get in touch with me about an interview! You can hit me up here or email me at dw11@unhlaw.unh.edu. Also, Ryno is very anti-Linux and it would be good to get some people on his show to tell him that audio works fine on GNU/Linux.

The only thing thats keeping me from linux is the fact you need an emulator for games.. yes yes, I know I can set up a dual boot computer, but I'm on a laptop, so i need the space.

@flame_leaf Thank you for testing. I will have a look at the library module for the final version. Check out the release notes when final version is available

@LucioCarreras: Not working for me. It doesn't seem to want to import my library. To be fair it is massive though (almost 150k songs now) quodlibet and gmusicbrowser are the only players I've tried that work well for me.

    Settembre 2012
  • flame_leaf

@LucioCarreras: But does it work as well as QuodLibet? I'll give it a try.

Hey! There's a new player called Sayonara! It would be very cool if I can find some testers. There's a debian package as well as the source code for compiling it yourself. Maybe it's an alternative for users looking for a stable and clear player... http://code.google.com/p/sayonara-player/ Thanks in advance :) Cheers, Lucio

Seriously. You'd be insane to not give it a try. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I'm obsessive-compulsive about my library's organization.

    Novembre 2011
  • flame_leaf

I played around a bit with Guayadeque. It's a really nice player, and it certainly can compete with Quodlibet with library size. I was turned on by the sheer amount of features that I haven't really seen anywhere else and would love to see in Quodlibet, but it lacks one feature that doesn't even make it an option for me. The lack of a *real* tag editor and a seriously inferior set of search functions. Despite all it's bells and whistles, it doesn't quite cut it compared to Quodlibet. However, I will say that, excluding Quodlibet, it's the best looking, fastest-performing, and most feature rich player I've ever encountered. On any operating system.

All knowledge that I've known of Guayadeque is only from the review. If you want to know how does it compare to other music player ( Quodlibet ), try asking other users of Guayadeque at OMG! Ubuntu! because I never actually used Quodlibet.

  • flame_leaf

This Guayadeque... intrigues me. How well does it hold up compared to Quodlibet with library scaling (this is coming from somone with almost 1TB of music)?

How about giving guayadeque a try? Well,i'll using it on my netbook and works well for a 23 GB music library. The main features includes : - Play mp3, ogg, flac, wma, mpc, mp4, ape, etc - Read and write tags in all supported formats - Allow to catalogue your music using labels. Any track, artist or album can have as many labels you want - Smart play mode that add tracks that fit your music taste using the tracks currently in play list - Ability to download covers manually or automatically - Suggest music using last.fm service - Allow fast access to any music file by genre, artist, album, etc. Last.fm group page:http://www.last.fm/group/Guayadeque?ac=guayad Download page: http://guayadeque.org/forums/index.php?p=/page/Download
